It can be dangerous when our Swamp Chestnut Oaks start dropping in October. They'll leave a whelp, if they hit you. Haha. You can hear a deer cracking them from about 30 yards.

I'd like to hunt a big bottom full of those swamp chestnuts. Those are awesome trees.

I watched one of Grant Woods videos one time and he was talking about someone putting a stand in a Burr Oak and I was thinking that one of those would knock you out of the stand.

I used to hunt on the sipsey river (Greene/Pickens counties) and man did we have the swamp chestnuts and big ol cotton mouths. N2TRKYS, you ain't kidding, they make some noise popping those things open. Ahhhhhh the good ole days, miss how much simpler, better life was for me back then.

The water oak in my yard started dropping this week

And Tuskegee NF has some of the most beautiful swamp chestnut oak bottoms you'll ever see. I got a spot that is a haul to get to but when they're dropping it's not uncommon to see double digit deer
