When a place grows like this one has everyone isn't gonna agree on things. It's similar to a hunting club. When you have a club and it's just you and your 5 closest buddies, things are usually pretty smooth. When you are in a bigger club there are more opinions, personalities, and ideas. There will be conflicts. Same thing happened on tndeer.com. That used to be the best place on the web for info and to hang out and shoot the breeze. Conflicts happened and in my mind they weren't handled correctly. There are over 13,000 registered members on tndeer and I'm number 225. When things went to crap on that site, I left. I went back a minute ago to see how many users they have, but I didn't sign in. I still have a lot of folks I consider friends on that site and none of the conflicts that happened there affected me personally. I just chose not to participate anymore. I'm not telling anyone to leave, it's just what I did.
Some have asked what happened there. Here's what I saw. A few Moderators decided to show their powers and moderated everything that could be moderated. They used their religious views to dictate the way things went there instead of embracing other people's opinions. I noticed today that one of them(possibly 2) aren't listed as Mods any more. Probably a good thing. That's the reason I stay out of the religious discussions. Then, the new crowd came in at tndeer and decided they were just gonna take over and run things the way they wanted to and complain when things didn't go their way. It became too damn much drama.
As y'all can see, I haven't had a set of rules I go by when Moderating. I've tried to use common sense and my own judgment. Whether that's right or wrong, I don't know, but that's the way it's been. Everyone won't agree on things and this place wouldn't be any fun if we did. I saw earlier someone posted something about an 8-year-old reading on this site. That's not something I'd recommend but I don't go to the Nickelodeon website and get pissed when they just want to talk about Dora the Explorer or SpongeBob Squarepants. My point is, men are gonna talk about man stuff. As long as it's not threatening or something that can't be seen in public or in a PG-13 movie I ain't gonna mess with it.
If the Mods went by the posted rules this place would be a ghost town. If we deleted posts that were "knowingly false or inaccurate" or "abusive" or banned the people that posted them there wouldn't be many left here. Some of these drunks still claim to have seen black cats.
The smartest guy I know told me one time, "The best Moderators are the ones that do the least Moderatin'." I still believe that.

When I was that age my mom only had to worry about the kids at school or friends I played with spilling news about Santa Claus, kids these days grow up way to fast and Ill be DIZAMNED if she'd have let me play on todays version of the fornanet.

This may not well with everyone but I am very tired of seeing the filth in the avatar pics that are being posted by a handful. I understand that not everyone is a Christain and may or may not have the view of these pictures being wrong and filth but many do. Its ridiculous to not be able to look at deer pictures or discuss hunting without being subject to seeing this garbage. Not to mention if my kids happen to be on here with me. This is a hunting forum if you want to see and look at the filth there are plenty of places for that. I don't see any need in it being here. That being said regardless of your view on these pics the rules of this forum clearly state that sexually oriented stuff is not allowed to be posted. I would like to see the moderators enforce these rules or change them. GR- I applaud your efforts and standing up for what you believe in. I agree with you and if nothing else comes of this post, learning how to turn off the avatars was well worth it. Some of these guys wont get it until they get if you know what I mean. I dont put up with this stuff in my house either. My 10 yr looks at this forum with me in an effort to learn more about hunting and spend time together. When he is with me, I know to stay out of the General Forum altogether and be ready to scroll quickly in the others. Just because it is accepted in society does not mean its right or it is the way it has to be. I am in no shape to condemn anyone. Just trying my best to keep me and mine on the right path. Brent, Shaw,Yekrut and the rest of the mod's I am guessing either get paid or whatever else they get from this site can do as they see fit they are the mod's not us. If you don't like something don't read it or look at it thats your opinion. It's There rules and its there time they spend looking at all the mind numbing Bullchit that we post. My hats off to them for providing us a great site not only for info but to have fun and meet some great guys in the mean time.
