Not that any of you asked, but here is my take on this thread:

Most sensible post I've read on this topic in all 5 pages. Not that any of you asked, but here is my take on this thread:
I find it sad that when a man who shares his desire for a great website forum to abide by its own rules of having a clean, ethical, family-friendly atmosphere, he then gets blasted, mocked, scoffed at and ridiculed.
But I'm not shocked by that response either. It is a common occurrence for the mocking, scoffing and ridicule to come from some. I'm not talking about a difference of opinion here. I'm talking about the aggressiveness and defensiveness that rises up when a person speaks up wishing for a higher standards based on God's standard.
Why is that? Why is there such an aggressive and negative and defensive response to something like Ghost Rabbit posted? Might be worth investigating for some. I have my views on the matter, which I'll keep to myself.
Aldeer is a cross-section of the general population. Impossible to sanitize it. There are some great uplifting posts, funny stories, great information mixed right in with a bunch of trash. Has been this way for as long as I've been around (2005). For those of us who prefer not to dwell in the sexual stuff, we have the ability as adults to discern what is proper for us to look at. For those of us who prefer to have anything goes on the forum, they have that same ability. Much like the decisions we all make in everyday life.
One thing for certain, Aldeer is not really a family-friendly website in the General Forum. It is what it is. If one is intentionally trying to avoid certain types of content in the General Forum or trying to not let their kids be negatively influenced, one has to be careful what they open and read/view. I come across stuff all the time that I have no desire to participate in, so I just move on to something else. I'm a grown man with at least a smidgen of wisdom, discernment and maturity and I can make these decisions. With that said, I wouldn't mind seeing less of the sexual posts.
I've lived both sides of this on Aldeer. I've posted up tons of sexually graphic and/or inappropriate things in my early days on Aldeer. But God began to work on me about the same time, and today I don't desire to be around that. Why? God calls us (me) to strive and desire and to pursue things that are pure, good, noble, honorable, right and holy. My desire and my passion is to be reserved for my wife alone and to do my best to have a life that is pleasing and acceptable to my Lord. I can openly admit I fall short very often. Hot women in skimpy clothes leaving very little to the imagination...ain't no way that isn't sexually explicit. It will fire up a red-blooded male. I'm not immune and this is an area that I find it very easy to get off track.
If that stuff cranks your tractor, then so be it. Justify it how you wish. But a request to adhere to the rules of the forum, that state to minimize that, isn't a bad thing in my opinion. Some of y'all might see this as a religious zealot trying to control you and that has got you firing back. But I don't think that is what Ghost Rabbit was trying to do.
My opinion, my 2 cents. Your mileage may vary.

I haven't been offended by any of the things that happen here because I'm just a dumbass country boy, but I can see where Rabbit is coming from. It's either a rule or it aint. Enforcing rules selectively is what Obama is doing with our border, There is a difference between a rule and a law. Rules are personal. This board is run by the people that own it. They can establish, enforce or ignore whatever rules they want. It's just like at your house you can say folks can't sit in your favorite chair but choose to ignore it when a guest comes over or your kid is plopped down. Laws are established by due process and there is enforcement by government. If the members owned this site and voted to establish rules it might be different. I'm still trying to get a refund on my last 10 years of membership dues so I'll recuse myself. Well then I don't understand why somebody would waste the time to type all that stuff when all it had to say was "My way or the highway"?

I agree somewhat with Ruger 300, but I'm not easily offended or I couldn't keep the company I do. If I do think something is off color or a little too far I just ignore it. It is the internet, after all. Good post! It really is that simple unless you want to be a drama queen and stir up a bunch of attention to yourself complaining about it.

OK I have been reading this and believe the same code was broken when it was publicly announced on the open forum. excerpt below, explains proper procedure for complaints, not trying to change the way posters post, rather bring it to the mods by emailing and if the owners of the site see it unfit then change, bamhammer or what ever you guys do. excerpt below clearly tells someone what to do if they deem inappropriate...I got this thing for Beadles wife to so post it again please The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this BB or any entity associated with this AlDeer.Com. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. ![beers beers](/forum/images/graemlins/default/beer-1.gif)

Let me shed some light....As long as their are grown men assembling on this forum, that have different beliefs, there will always be posts that are inappropriate for kids. It might be words, topics, pictures, or whatever
If everybody believed the same thing to the same degree, then all posts would be acceptable to everyone, though this place would get real boring.
When aldeer turns into a forum that polices every post to ensure that everyones guidelines are met, there probably won't be much of a forum.
![thumbup thumbup](/forum/images/graemlins/default/grinning-smiley-003.gif) Someone give this man a gold star! You nailed it IMO! I don't mind Brent's or 3toe's avatars, but Rebelman's has GOT TO GO! Agreed! Yep -AGREED!
