We set up anyway and ended up calling one back that came in silent. I had a brief shot but prior to the hunt, we agreed today since I was the guest that my buddy would take the shot. He was facing 90 degrees off and never saw him coming. Gobbler was already spooky and saw something he didn't like. Started putting and headed out. Told my buddy that he better never question my friendship! Had a chance to shoot one in the face and didn't do it!

A little while later some hens started yelping and shortly afterward a gobble erupted within 75 yards of us. Those hens went nuts and pitched right to him. Game over. Never heard another cluck.

At least I finally got to hear some birds though!
