I always smell my arrow before I start tracking. If I smell any guts then I wait longer. If I see bubbles in the blood, I start trailing almost immediately, normally if I see bubbles I also heard it crash not far from the shot.

I was going to post that you described the front leg not working, that you may have hit the joint and you were seeing synovial fluid.

Was he dead when you found him, or did you have to put another arrow in him? Can't see how he would die from being hit in the joint of the front leg, especially if he wasn't bleeding.

Not color blind! He was very much alive when I found him. Poor guy just couldt move. Had to finish the job with a knife. I'm taking the morning off from hunting to re zero ... I'm not sure what happen with my equipment I checked everything the night before.
