My point is the people that pay nothing ruin a lot of hunts for the people who have to pay. I'm sure they do... How many lazy hunters walk and ride and come in late..leave early...hunt to close to ya... Hunters mess up other hunters a lot as well... Is right to make someone pay to track a bow kill onto a WMA if they hunt private land that border's the WMA... I wouldn't wanna pay to track a deer on land that my tax dollars already pay for... It may be the exception....but I don't believe that would be fair either... Same goes for all the bicycling threads... They don't pay chit for a tag tax to help pay for the roads...but them sob's sure don't mind using them and slowing traffic down to a damn crawl...an messing up my Friday night or cause me to be late to a game... Thanks for your opinion. If you did hunt a wma I guess you wouldn't buy the WMA license if I understand you right.

To use the Cahaba WMA range you have to have a hunting license or WMA hunt permit. No free use of the range unless you want to chance it. Are the permits no longer free... It used to be a signed map...that you could print off the web or get at a few local gas stations... When did you have to start paying for the map? The map permit it free, which you have to have to hunt game. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but to use the range you need a current state hunting license or a WMA license. The map permit does not give you rights to the range.

Darn straight. Range users and hunters have to pay....why in the WORLD would somebody tearing the roads all to hell (one of the biggest maintenance expenses the WMA's deal with) not have to pay to enjoy it. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

I looked. Here you go, rule 26 on the back of the map.
It shall be unlawful:
26. To use the target range without a valid State hunting license, WMA license, Wildlife Heritage license, or freshwater fishing license. Exactly. Even range users are supposed to have some type of license these days....even if it's only a fishing or heritage license.

Would you support a law requiring people who joy ride on WMAs to have to purchase a WMA license? I would vote yes in a heart beat. Absolutely I support a 'use permit'. Anybody that uses WMAs, state lands, conservation areas, etc should pay for that use regardless of if they are hunting, hiking, horseback riding, etc..... I'm pretty sure Florida and Georgia already do this. I don't hunt public land so I'm not sure. Florida does not do this. You can Hike, Bike, horseback ride and otherwise use the WMA free of charge as long as you are not Hunting or Fishing. You can not, however, ride an ATV in a WMA. One of my most productive public hunting stands is located overlooking a maintained Horse trail.
Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!

YES. Can't tell you how many turkeys they've boogered up... Dirt bikes riding on the side of a ridge not even on a road. Very frustrating. If you hunt skyline, you know. Around 9-10 every day here they come down the mountains. Yea this is what started this. Oct 3 up there looked like a moto cross race.

You should be there when they ignore our property line/ signs/gates and ride down through our property and food plots by the droves. Men, women, kids and all. I tell ya, the joy riders are by far the least conscious user group.
