We killed over 100 pigs in Geiger this summer. Yes, they are thick there. LOL

Sounds good, it's over 1000 acres has lakes, creeks, ponds, food plots.. everything they need.

Hogs should be hammering acorns right now. Get the wind right and do some slipping. It is a blast.

Gotcha, looks like this has to potential to be a good stalk, i hope my mini 14 is up to the task. Hopefully, the members can tell me where they've been seeing the most concentrations of them.

Need an opinion here.

I'm thinking about buying a gun specifically for hog hunting. Looking at two options, which are different beast from each other.

1. Savage Hog Hunter in .308
2. Remington 870 atacs and slugs

What would you guys do? Or maybe just stick with my mini 14?

Laymans advice - Stick with the mini-14. Find the hogs, and adjust your equipment based on hog encounters. The situations will play out differently, but should lead you to the answer. For example, you will encounter a group and wish you could get multiple shots off. Don't know if you can do that with either of the two guns above.

Whatever makes you happy. I've killed a bunch with a bolt action .22. Would be nice to hunt them with something in a bigger caliber that you could get off multiple rounds quickly with. I'm looking into a shotgun with a rifled barrel and rifle sights.

We will burn that bridge when we get there

The 308 ALL DAY LONG. It is a great round and you can find ammo.

When you're not trapping, what do you estimate the average range you shoot hogs in this area?

Average shot is probably about 75 yards.
