I know they say you have to walk miles in to find the best deer but I honestly plan on parking beside the road and hunting not too far from it. No deer is worth dragging 2 miles in the woods back to the truck.

Not all good places are 2 miles in! You just gotta look for the easy, OVERLOOKED places.

Drove over to the Pea Ridge side on Sunday. I was looking at some of my old haunts from years past. The land to the east of Macedonia Church look good from Aerial photos and when I got there I saw 4 trucks within a mile, guess they figured it was good place as well...lol.

Don't leave anything nice in your truck.

That deer's eye looks weird. I can't stop looking at it.

Coosa is a lost cause. It's gone. It's several hunting clubs now.

I drove around and scouted a little today around Coalmont Rd on the Helena side. Boy those woods are thick. I think my only chance ground hunting with a bow is going to be parking next to a locked gate on a trail leading to a pump, and then hunting the trail. Is it safe to assume if my truck is parked near the entrance to the trail no one else is going to walk in on me hunting over the trail? That or hunt a powerline.

You do, I repeat YOU DO have to report all deer and turkey kills on all Alabama WMA's. It is not a suggestion, it's a requirement.

I read on the permit for bow kills you can do the self check in for kills or report to the local warden. How might I go about reporting? Can you just email him the next day with what you killed?

Absolutely, that's a solid assumption. Matter of fact, I borrow several vehicles during the weekend and park them at gates just to have the areas to myself. People on public lands typically have the highest courtesy for others.

So you're planning on sitting in the road with a groundblind? Good luck!
