Climbed a mountain, hung a stand, climbed up got locked in by 545. Wind is perfect, got 2 persimmon trees 20 yards in front giving up their goods, 5:47 deer start blowing and running everywhere

My view this morning

Got a funny look this morning walking in the gas station with only my thin base layer and flip flops on. Saw 5-6 eating on the side of the highway driving down. Bumped 2 in the dark between the truck and the tree. Hard to walk quiet it's so dry.

I'm set up in a funnel between a green field and bedding area and I brought my buddy hunting for his first time today he has never killed a deer and only been in the woods once before he is set up about 500 yards away in a pine thicket that borders white oaks with a crossbow hopefully he will lay one down and pop his cherry today

I'm in a white oak with several more around me, on my south fence line, with my 1yo clearcut to the north. Thick gums and junk south of me. I have a spike that's bout 20yrds west on me, he has been feeding for 15 mins. Waiting on a doe or a stud. Feeling bloody this morning

My spike just fed away. I lost him over a rise in the clearcut.

Set up on a field that has been pretty well traveled. Has persimmons on the other side as well as oaks.

Opening day in the south zone has not started good for me. Woke up late clothes weren't all the way dry forgot my phone and had to go back home. Then I get to my new spot just to find that someone has plowed and planted and has a block and a trail camera out on land that only I have permission to hunt. This is goons be fun.... On a good note got set up at 0820ish and had three does come through so maybe things will get better

Had butterball cow horn at 15 yards. He's lucky I have plenty of meat in the freezer.

Nothing so far in Lamar county.

Just plenty of acorns and unpressured deer.

Similar here just not a ton of deer

Had a few pass me before daylight. Got busted by a fat ol nanny. Saw bits and pieces of several in the thick stuff I hunt in. Heard a couple bucks lightly sparing. And a spotted fawn come stand under me a while. Gotta head on out.

I have seen 4 more in the past 10 minutes. 3 does and another spike I'm looking at now at 15 yards. Damn, need a shooter!!

Well everybody, I better get down, gotta go get ready for the jack Daniels bbq festival! Saw 6 doe, 3 fawns a decent 3 year old 8, a box 8 and a spike! Deer were moving today. Congrats to everyone who got one and welcome back to the woods for you southern AL hunters!

Ended up seeing 6 does and yearlings this morning. One of the does managed to duck my arrow. Maybe this afternoon I'll get redemption.

Got this doe about 10 AM. 110lbs

Had a awesome morning. Hunted Near a big pond in a planted pine draw that the deer funnel threw. Was gona get down at 9:30. About 9:25 heard something over my right shoulder and a 8 pt was coming my way. He walked right under me at about 5 yards. Once he got past me drew on him and let him have it at 18 yard's quartering away. Herd him run about 125 yards and crash. [img:center]http:// [/img]

Just got settled on a white oak flat about 50 yards off a food plot should be good.

Congrats to everyone that closed the deal this morning! I didn't see anything this morning so I moved up the mountain a ways to a white oak flat. It's showering down acorns, definitely a bumper crop here in Jackson county!

Took a 7pt at 9AM

My 13 year old son and I got skunked this morning. He told me I could have any deer we saw today cause he was on coyote patrol.LOL!!! Heard three different ones howling/barking right after day light but never saw them. Saw one grey house cat that I have know idea where it came from. Had some dogs running what I only figure was deer behind our set. We decided to call it a morning after that cause he had to go to his moms. Maybe next time. Congrats to all who scored today and good luck on ya'lls future hunts this season.

Man I wish I could have been out this morning but I am here now. Hunting with a buddy that jumped one walking in. It is his first now hunt ever. We have a west hunting a strip ranging between 50-100 yards wide of wood between a swamp and bean field. He is about 300 yards to my south. Not sure what his set up it. I am sitting on a dried creek bed with a thicket all around me. Not many acorn on the ground but maybe they will come slipping through. Never hunted this spot before so I got my fingers crossed I picked the right spot

Well settled in on a greenfield man it is hot

Back to where I killed the does few days ago. Water oaks dropping next to a fresh clear cut.

Chose the wrong tree this morning. Had three does come out right where I expected them to at 830, which was awesome since the last time I hunted this spot and the state was 6 years ago. however instead of heading east across the clearing they came out and headed north within 5 yards of the other tree I have picked out. Climbed down at 1030 to go move the stand 90-100 yards and jumped them in the oak flat on the backside of my stand for tomorrow morning. Now just hoping for a favorable wind.

Got three does at 40 gonna let em walk

Moved a stand to where I saw a big 8 point last week. There are acorns, deer poop, and scrapes all around me!! I am literally sitting over a nice scrape!!

I slept in this morning, but I'm back after them this afternoon...I'm on the edge of a thick swamp, where drier hardwoods meets the swamp. There's lots of water oaks in here and I think it's gonna be good! Nobody has been in these woods since turkey season (that I know of) and I'm hoping to see an old, ugly 6 pt I have on camera. I believe he's staying back in this swamp.

Well the old lady was drawing on one and must have hit the release. She said the arrow flew toward them. Me and her are snake bit.

Got a doe and twin spotted fawns feeding here now.

Bowfool's son gave a nannerhead a dirt nap.

Just had a lone doe walk by out of range. Didn't even check up to look for acorns.

Had a doe and two fawns eating acorns at 30 yards this afternoon. All of the bucks I had on camera have decided to eat elsewhere. Trying something different in the morning.

My buddy saw his first deer on his first bow hunt tonight but it was out of range. I had 3 come in at dark. I had my video rolling and though it was going to work out. They stopped at 20 yards and couldn't shoot though the cover I had. They have me a BJ.
