There'd be a lot of young 8pts killed. And. not to go all 49er, but I don't like being told what I can or can't kill on my property.

Negative.. Not on private land. Now public land Id be okay with as long as they don't make it every WMA and keep letting the does be taken. I don't believe point restrictions benefit the herd in general. Not every buck grows 8 points. I also think that more restrictions hinder hunter recruitment. Just my two cents.

Not no, but hell no. Antler restrictions are a piss poor way of managing a herd. How about leasing you about 5000 contiguous acres, and manage it however you want, but leave the rest of us to our own philosophy's. The pictures above are of mature bucks, that would be illegal to shoot, under your guidlines, but all your 2.5 y/o 8ptrs that are highly visible, would be fair game. You been watching too much of the outdoor channel.

I'm all for it, except some type of clause for first buck for new hunters. I would think people would still have all the opportunity they needed for does and allow others to have a chance for a mature buck. But until we fix our tagging system, limits mean only the honest follow anyways.

It would be very stupid.

1. The liberty to make decisions of what needs killed on my property should be left up to me.

2. Why do you want to force others to hunt the way you do with legislation?

3. I've seen some very good and mature deer that we're taken that had 5,6 and 7pts. Not all deer actually ever become 8pt or bigger.

4. Hunting is about more than how many antlers a deer has that you kill. While there are many reasons people hunt the main reason should be for eating the animal.
Proverbs 12:27 (KJV)
27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

I find that most people that want such laws have become so controlled of wanting to kill big deer that they want to control others even if it means taking away liberties of another person. They are so worried about what their neighbors are doing that they want legislation to force them to hunt the way they "think" is best.

Because points do not determine trophy value on a buck, age does.

Because not everyone hunts for antlers, there are people out there who actually hunt for the joy of it and the meat.

Because you would be taking a ton of opportunities away from the state's youth. These harvest limitations can potentially have a negative impact on young hunters who are eager to punch that first tag

Because you would be taking away opportunities from hunters with physical handicaps.

The state doesn't have the resources to enforce it.

NO!!!! It ain't nobody's place to tell me or my kids what size a stupid deer has to be before we can kill it. If me or my kids want to shoot a spike, that's our discission to make and nobody else needs to open their mouth. Same goes for any other hunter. If somebody wants to trophy hunt, by all means go for it, but they shouldn't try to force it on anybody else.

No, it is not even a good management rule for a single property much less the entire state. If you want to grow big bucks, let them age.

I just asked a question jack ass, and I do have two VERY large tracts of land leased that I manage, and a room full of monster bucks, and I don't watch the Outdoor channel. There are gonna be exceptions to every rule, but I'd be willing to bet that for every mature six pointer that doesn't get shot, there are a thousand 1-1/2 year old spikes and four pointers shot yearly.

So if you have 2 VERY large tracts that you manage however you want and a room full of monster bucks why does the state need to go to 8pt or bigger? Can you not kill 3 8pt or bigger bucks on those 2 tracts? Sounds like you're hunting how you want just fine now and being somewhat successful at it. What are you personally really going to gain by legislating hunting laws to your liking of 8pt or better?
