IMO, the buck limits as they are now are fine. Enforcement is the issue. Give a man three tags and let him put them on whatever bucks he chooses.

No, a butterball 6 point eats as good as any doe & there's a lot more meat to butcher. Besides, we are already ruled & regulated to death.

TV, Magazines, and the Internet have tried to change what hunting is all about. Marketing campaigns have pushed that we need bigger deer and we need to let every buck that we are not positive is a 5 yr old walk to grow another year. Then they can sell more rack growing formulas and other products to help us grow bigger deer. Meanwhile, each time one of these monster bucks gets killed our lease price goes up a little more. I personally don't shoot small bucks bilut that's a personal choice. I don't want some govornment official telling me what I can and can't shoot. It's funny how many people want to implement rules to let deer get bigger but then they get jelous if someone else shoots those bigger deer.

Point system don't work. Saw a nice 12" wide 8pt Sunday morning at 15 yards. Probably weighed 120 lbs. Shot a 190 lb 4 point that is 21" wide. I prefer to shoot mature deer and that one was mature and needed to go

Thats the good thing about freedom is your free to hunt only 8points if you want. why would you want to restrict other peoples freedom. i like an occasional trophy but it wouldn't mean anything if it wasn't a rarity. also why would we want to cull all the 8 point genetics out of the deer herd.

I like what Mississippi does. They have a minimum spread or minimum beam length rule. I think Alabama has taken a step in the right direction the past few years.
