Private Lake
Noon
Bass
2, 10-plus
Strong south wind, warm temps
Unsure, probably in 50s
Texas-rigged tube, smoke-red flake
Caught a small one on the tube, then went back to where the big one broke me off twice on 12-pound test. Upgraded to 20-pound test. Detecting bites was tough in the wind, but she tapped it and I stuck her. Between 9-10 pounds, beautiful fish. Released and she tail-splashed me good before swimming away.

Smith Lake(Rock Creek)3/27/04
Caught 6 bass(4 in about 2hrs that morning, and 2 in about 30 minutes of fishing that evening)
Weight: 1 approx. 3 to 3.5#'s, the rest between 1-2#'s. Missed 4 or 5 more bites.
Caught 2 on a spinnerbait, and 4 on a lizard.
Water was pretty clear with partly cloudy conditions. Not very much wind at all. Seem to do better on a slow retrieve. Caught the biggest by throwing against a rock wall and letting it fall straight down, then twitching it a few times and letting it fall a little more.

Private Lake south of Montgomery
3-6 p.m.
Largemouth
100 plus caught, from 1 to 5.5 pounds
Overcast, thundershowers moving in
Kitchen sink

-- Private and intensely managed lake ... teamed up with a friend and pitched tubes, freak baits, jerkbaits and topwaters ... just a good, fun day until I heard my rodtip buzzing as I was about to make a cast. Electricty and rods don't go together, so we shagged.

Smith Lake(rock creek)
bass fishing
6am to 8:30 am
Water very clear and overcast conditions with slight wind gust from time to time.
Caught 4 fish(all 1-2 #'s)had one 4-5 #'der follow a buzzbait to the boat but never hit it.
Caught all my fish on topwater baits(white buzzbait, and torpedo)
I didn't catch a fish on anything else and threw everthing from lizards to crankbaits.
Water patrol was out hot & heavy so double check and make sure you have everything in your boat that's required.

Bayou Sara (Upper Mobile Delta)
2:30 pm
Largemouth Bass
3 fish (Largest was about 2 1/2 pounds, the other 2 were about 1 pound each)
Sunny and hot as Hades
Stained
Chrome and Blue Rat-L-Trap and Pearl White crankbait

I had caught the 2 smaller bass about 15 minutes before I caught the bigger one. I heard him splash beside a stump that was sticking up out of the water behind me. I turned around and cast just past the stump and he hit the Rat-L-Trap and jumped. When he jumped, he threw the hook and it wound up hooking him about half way between the dorsal fin and the tail. I didn't realize he was foul hooked at the time and thought he was bigger than he actually was. He got wrapped around the stump and I had to turn the boat around to get on the other side of the stump. He got off of the stump and I got him in the boat. All in all, it was a pretty good day on the creek that I was fishing, especially for this time of year.

JULY 24 2004
Pea River
10am-4pm
we caught 23 bass. the largest being a 5.9lb and another at 3.7lbs.
Temp: Was dang near 100
Water temp I really aint sure.
Bait: We used Culprit plastic worms. Colors were Black and we used Pumpkin seed with Chartruse tails.
Comments: Me and my buddy had a blast on this float trip. We hadnt fished together in a while. We kept about 18 of the fish. It was very hot but I would do it again. I think the heat index was like 110. When we got to hot we just jumped off into the water to get cooled off. The float trip took about 6 hours to make. The river was lower in places than we expected but all in all it was a good day. I really enjoyed it. smile

Warrior River
7am-10am
Water was stained with clear skies.
Couldn't bye a bite the first hour. I finally switched to a chartreuse & white spinner bait with one gold and one silver willow leaf blade. Threw it parrallel with the weeds and pads and caught 5 bass pretty quick. I didn't ever get the big one but had fun anyway. I never caught a fish while throwing into the bank. I could see fish way up in the pads and had one big one blow up on a June bug lizzard I was swimming across them but missed him.

Me and Brody Joe and my brother went a fishing today. We caught 10 bass out of a private pond here in Opp. We caught them on spinner baits and plastic worms. Photoshopped pictures to follow at a later date. Just as soon as Joe can make them look bigger than they are. laugh

Crow Creek/Tenn. River
10:00-2:30pm
Bass
2 fish, 2 lbs
Windy, Overcast
stained
Both fish caught on spinnerbait, fished some traps, jigs, plastics.
Water temps were anywhere from 51-56.

Fish where caught in about a foot of water. Looked like they had just came up to the shallows. Would have kept fishing that spot, but the whitecaps made it hard to. laugh

Hopefully can make it back tomorrow...

Bayou Sara (Upper Mobile Delta)
5:30 pm to 7 pm
Largemouth bass
3 fish...2 2# fish and 1 1.5# fish
Cloudy
Stained (normal)
Inline Spinnerbait and Inline Crankbait made by a local guy down here

Got home from work and decided to wet a line for a few hours before the sun set. Got the boat in the water at about 5:30 pm and fished just around the corner from the launch. I let the wind blow me around instead of using the trolling motor. Fished right at an hour and a half and boated 3 fish. Thunder started rolling in about 7 pm and the clouds started getting darker so I decided to head back home before it got any worse.

Clem, nice to note that other people have had their rod tip start singing. Have been looked at very funny when telling other people about it. Also fished Lake Martin one morning when the line wouldn't fall to the water (updraft or something). Lure (topwater) wouldn't move until you made a bunch of cranks on the handle.

Lower Mobile Delta (Blakely River)
8:30 am-11 am
Largemouth Bass
4 fish (2 2.5# fish, 1 1.5# fish, and 1 that might have gone 1#)
Cool (45° with wind out of the north about 15 mph)
Stained
Bruiser Sally (black, blue, purple Snagless Sally with silver blades)

1st time ever fishing the lower delta. We only fished about a 1.5 miles from the launch. The guy I went with had just gotten a new aluminum Triton and wanted to take it out. The fish were all caught while reeling the Sally through patches of grass.

Lake Martin---Caught 10 or 12 Friday afternoon on top. Spit-n-Image and Roy Gene. Most were small and averaged about 3/4 lb. Sunday morning, son and I caught 24 on top. Lots were small, but had 8 nice spots. I was throwing the Roy Gene and my son (who caught 2/3 of the fish) was fishing the small Chug-Bug. Fish hit top up to 9:30 when we had to go in. Cloudy with breeze out of the South. Mostly fishing the Triple Branches area. Fish were real shallow early (2 feet or less) and moved to humps and end of points later. Saw lots of schoolies (mostly smaller fish.) Wish I was there today.

1 fish that might have weighed a pound
Cloudy and COLD
Stained (normal for this water) and LOW

Slow, COLD day on the water today. Only fish that I caught was a small (poundish) bass. Had one grinnel chase my lure back to the boat, and scared the daylights out of me when he hit it right at the boat.
