I'm being serious here.

I'm seriously having a hard time coping with the loss of my cat that passed last night. She was 13 years old and I am a huge animal person having two dogs and her. she basically stopped grooming herself a year ago and we had to constantly shave her, also she use to be real fat at 23 lbs and has lost weight over the last few months. It wasn't until late last week when she started not to eat all her kibble and monday didn't eat anything. We started giving her soft food and she would eat it.

Yesterday before I left for work I gave her soft food which she ate the whole thing. I came home and went to check on her kibble and water and giver her some more wet food and she wasn't in her little igloo thing she like so I went searching for her in her normal hiding spots. That is where I found her in a ball unresponsive and dead. So she passed sometime during the afternoon because she was still limber. I dug a hole last night and wrapped her in a towel with some of her play mice toys and put her in a box and buried her.

My fiance is torn up about this too, she cant stop crying and I know it's a cat but that cat was like a child to us and I'm just so depressed. I feel that I let the cat down, we discussed putting her to sleep with how much weight she lost and her weak meowing the last two days but hoping that she would be okay with the soft food because she seemed still rather playful.

I'm not a crier but man I've been the waterworks in this whole thing. nothing seems to make me happy, even my dogs. I have a ton of soft food and kibble that I want to give away and we're going to throw her stuff away tonight.

The thing I cant get out of my head is when I went to tell the fiance about it I broke down and she got up and ran to the room. She got on her hands and knees yelling her name and crying. I honestly don't know what to do, I'm so depressed right now and I could use some help.

how have you guys dealt with the loss of a four legged child?

I don't know what to say but maybe it will help to wrap your head around the idea that children are children and pets are animals. Good luck to you.

Last year we lost both of our cats within a few months of each other. One was 22 years old and the other was 15 years old. It is rough, and will hurt, but with time it will get better. Sorry for your loss.

I have been there and done that. Most people would say, its just a cat, not me. When we take on a pet if becomes part of our family, we take the good with the bad. I really think you did the right thing in letting her die at home. Sorry for your loss, hang in there, time will cure everything.

Sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter what it is as long as it's a pet we get attach to it or love it if you will. And when it dies it hurts like hell. I feel very fortunate in my life that I haven't had that many horrible days I didn't think I could make it through and two of them was saying good bye to a pet.

I'd be more upset that you have all that leftover tender vittles.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

She died warm at home where her family lived. That's what she wanted to do. Not at a Vets office wondering what was going on. She's better now. Very sorry for your loss.

I buried one last week. Didn't make t across the road.
Was out of town. Buzzard alerted me to the carcass.
Was a cool cat but.......now I don't buy so much cat food.
1down, 2 to go.

You guys will be great parents. Give that a shot and there will be a whole new outlook on cats.

Man I feel your pain. I remember when I lost my first cat. It was tuff. It was a fat cat also. Man I loved that thing. About quit hunting and fishing over it one time. But then one day it was gone. It found out I was loving on another cat. Dang what I would give to be 16 again!!

you guys mocking the OP: would you be doing that if he'd lost a dog under the same circumstances?
probably not ...

If this was directed toward me. Then no I wouldn't. A dog is something a man carries to the field hunting. It's waiting on him when it gets if work. It knows when he is having a bad day. But a cat?? It just sets around and licks his azz, then wants to get in your face. Or crawl all over your kitchen counters. I hate cats. So bash all you want. I was just trying to lighten the mood. Carry on. smile
