Never noticed how close they are in size. The second from the left is a 270. Third from left is a 25-06

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

270 Win is .277 caliber...25-06 is .257 caliber...
Both are wildcats that came from a 30-06 hull...
25-06 with good constructed bullet is a deer assassin ...tad better ballistics as far as speed vs a 270...

But using a 165gr 30-06, bullet, a a 130gr 270 and a 120gr 25-06...not counting recoil...within 300 yards you're only talking a couple inches in trajectory difference

A 25-06 is a good choice, lighter recoil...but doesnt have the myriad of bullet weights the 30-06 enjoys...

If my go to 30-06 needs swapping cause its recoil bothered me...I'd sure look at a 25-06

I have both and love them both.

I shoot:

25-06 120 grain Core-Lokts

270 140 grain SST

83% of all statistics are made up.

Shot my first deer with a 25-06 this morning. Gonna be taking this rifle more often. 117gr Hornady did it's job.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

You should have a 280 in your line up it's really close to a 270. 7mm-06

Set my 11yo up in a 25-06 tikka with a conquest and I find myself taking it when he doesn't.

I'm a lil more partial to the 100gr core lokts.

I wouldn't trade my 280 for either of them.

Yep. It went back and forth from being called 280 to 7mm Express back to 280.

Thought so. I like em all. An A-bolt 25.06 is my main deer devastator though.

I have both. I like the 270 a little better but the 25-06 is deadly with TTSX 100s and 110 Accubonds!

I've always wondered why they don't call a 25-06 a 257-06 or ,257 and call a .270 a .277?

I love my 25-06.Mine really likes the 120 grain fusions. What I really like is the lack of recoil. It really increases shot confidence.

If ya round up .270/.277 should be a .280 and a .284/7mm should be a 7mm-06 ( same bullet on a .308 is 7mm-08) , not a .280 . confused

I think they try to come up with different names to try to get people to buy more rifles. They called the 280 a 7mm Express for a long time and nobody bought them so then they started calling them 280 and everybody needed one all the sudden.
I'm surprised nobody is hot after marketing a 6.5-06 to take advantage of those long high BC bullets for long range. That's a cartridge I'd like to own.
