that's a nice rifle; needs an at-least equal scope ...

Not sure how much you want to spend but for under $400 I love my Bushnell Elite. Its a fixed 10x40 and I think it was about $280.

I have two vortex diamondbacks now and probably won't go back to anything else if all goes well over time.

Let me elaborate on the original post so please forgive me for hijacking. If you had 550 what would you guys choose? Anyone have experience with vx-2 50mm? What are advantages of 50mm? I've heard mixed opinions on both.

40 is gonna give you all you need with less weight to carry around.I got caught up in the 50 hype years ago also and finally got out of it.A scope is kinda like a cooter-bigger aint always better.

Leopoldo VX 3, 3 x 9 would make a great combination. I have a Leupold on every gun I own and see no need to change. For the money-and lifetime warranty-The Leupold scope cannot be beaten. I hope this helps.

I like 50 for finding deer walking/running through woods and light gathering. If you're primarlily hunting open fields I'd prob just go 40.

I would see if I could find a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10-50 and buy it. Best scope in that price range.

That is what I have on my Browning X-bolt. Great scope.

Thanks for the info gentlemen! Now I've read the little sticky about scopes posted on another board....but explain eye relief? That's the distance between your eye and the scope? I have an older vari X2 that I like. My eye is a good distance away from scope which I really like. Is leupold the furthest eye relief you can get scopes in? Someone who has time please elaborate for my feeble mind haha

I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 and I love it. Don't think they make them anymore.

I am sure there are "better" scopes but for the $230 i paid for it, it does just fine.
