Some land is going for as much as $20-30 an acre so you take a guess.

Same here.

It's 90 percent land one fella owns. He leased I think 400 acres and owns 2200. He got a club and just split the cost of the 400. Don't see many folks like that anymore. He could make a killing. They kill good deer every year. I'm on the waiting list to get in. I'm about 79th in line.

Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but Where have you seen good ga leases going for a grand? And I'm not talking about average, I'm talking about good. Because, I lived in Georgia, have family that lives in Georgia, and still hunt in ga, and I've never seen what I consider a good lease for 1k. Actually, I would have said if anything they were higher for a top notch lease. I know quite a few buddies paying $1500 plus, for leases that are pretty mediocre over there.

Dollarhide is different than most clubs in that the Club owns, not leases, the land, lodge etc.. Joining means you own a membership, so technically, you own part of the property.

I believe it is in Greene County, BTW.

Would be nice to see the acres/member on the higher priced clubs. No doubt, land leases have increased and will continue to rise. However, I bet the more expensive clubs have a better hunter/acre ratio than the less expensive clubs. Read the "Quit Deer Hunting Post" going on right now - most common complaint is having to hunt in a club. The desire to have large acreage with a low number of hunters is becoming more and more common.

I can't even wrap my head around that. They have to be in it for the socializing or a tax write off.

Atoler, I've seen several in Stewart county ga in the 1000 range. Everyone jumps up and down about Stewart. Also seen some in Harris county which is heaven from what I know for 1200 or so and I'm going with that as what I've heard about Harris county. Compared to alabama I would say that's the equivalent to south Montgomery . I haven't found a good lease in alabama yet no matter what the price haha. Unless it's been 3 grand or more that is. So 1500 would be a bargain.

That is correct. You own a "share". The stepfather of a buddy of mine owns a share. Even though you own a share you are still required to pay yearly dues. That place is unreal. It's one of the oldest clubs in the South. Their clubhouse is like a museum.

I'd hate to know what my best pal spends a year on hunting. It's him and one other guy on 3300 acres in Conecuh between Evergreen and Andalusia.

coach, there's a big difference between a good club, and being in a good county. My Mom lives in Harris county, and I've had a lease in Harris county for 7 or 8 years. There's no difference between timber company land there, and timber company land in any part of south/central Alabama as far as quality and quantity goes. There are some good bucks in that area, but all the big 190" deer you hear about, are killed up around pine mountain, and most of them are near calloway, on big private acreage that's been managed, or on foxworthys place.

I'd go hunt a park duck before I would pay that, lol. It would be cheaper to fly to Cali and Oregon and hunt every other weekend.

I know a couple around 10,000. A lot of politicians in one and mostly families that have been in the same club for generations in the other.

I know of one thats $8000.00 around Boligee. I hear they kill big deer there. Our place is paid for by one person and he is leasing 3500 acres and in prime Sumter county. That's a big check!

Some of these prices y'all are posting makes me shake my head. I never knew folks paid that much to deer hunt.
