Tried to post this once but hasn't shown up yet so I'll try again. I got a shot at a good buck this afternoon but rushed it and tried a neck shot. I believe I hit brisket. I trailed the deer about 300 yards and stopped while still finding blood. I didn't jump the deer as far as I know and the blood seems pretty steady. If anyone has a dog or knows someone who has a dog and would be willing to help (I would be willing to pay of course) I would greatly appreciate a pm, text or call. The deer was on neighbors property when I stopped looking so of course I'll be giving him a call tomorrow to hopefully get permission to go look some more. The property is about 20 miles east of Greensboro off hwy 25 on the Hale and Perry line. I can be reached at 12055352887 or by pm or reply on here. Thanks guys.

I did what sounds like the same thing on a hunt 15 - 20 years ago. The deer ran 75 yards before it bled a drop, then ran another 150 and piled up. Good luck and hope you find him.

Check with the processor (Stump Hollow, I think) at Hwy 25 and 29 just down the road from you. They should know someone close by with a dog.

Seriously, I sure hope you find your buck! I know how you feel. I looked for one several years ago for two days that I shot at our place. Best buck I ever pulled the trigger on. Never did find it. Still makes me sick to think about it.

Well we gave it our best effort this morning. Daniel and his dog Ada put on a show for me. I have no doubt that if I had made a kill shot that they would have found the deer. Unfortunately the deer won this time. I really believe the shot was not fatal and that the deer will survive. Even though I don't have my hands on a buck right now I am really glad to meet a couple new friends today. Hats off to the aldeer brothers for all the help and response. Couldn't ask for a better bunch. Oh and just so y'all know. The blood that took me over an hour to track yesterday was covered in about two minutes by Ada. All I can say is WOW!

John,

I appreciate the kind words about Ada. I really hate that she was unable to find the buck. But I beleive if you get on him again this year he will be just fine, just maybe a graze wound. That's some thick stuff down there though that's for sure. I can't speak for Ada, but I know this ol boy is tired. We gave it our best and Ada found more blood than we thought. The fact the deer never bedded and was going uphill makes me think you'll get him again. Thanks again for the kind words and anytime you need help just let me know.

John,

I sure hate to hear that you did not find your buck but it sounds like it wasn't a fatal wound.

I feel bad about picking at you on here last night now that you did not find it. I was just sure that you guys would.

I hope he recovers and shows himself again to you! thumbup
