Yes it is. People also say we have no deer and you cant kill any deer dog hunting or still hunting.. But if they would get off there lazy butts and walk a little they could find the buck of there life out there. Me and my dad and a couple friends have found some nice bucks this year but, You actually have to hunt these deer i think that's why most people don't like it. They don't see something every time they go. Im going to put a camera up in the morning when i go hunting and let yall see whats coming through there if he dont slip out tomorrow!

I am thinking about hunting the NF area off 431 right as you get off I20, the other side borders Cider Ridge golf course. Have any of you guys hunted that before?

Yep.. They are there.. I'd caution about hunting rubs and such close to the road on the scenic drive (Hwy. 281). The grassy areas along the road will have a good number of deer feeding on them a at night. Hence there will be sign close to the road, however the best chance at catching these deer moving will be where they haven't been pressured as much. I'd advise looking on Google earth and trying to find acess routes to the deeper parts of the forest that's away from roads.. I've killed some out there but sightings get difficult the later in the season. Put some time in walking and I'd recommend getting a deer cart because the drag out can be brutal if you don't.. Feel free to pm me if you have any specific questions. I dont get to hunt there but once or twice a year since I moved out to NC so I don't mind throwing out a few spots I know of.

Do you have to have some type of permit or license to hunt the national forest area in Duncanville? Just curious because my club is bordered by some forest land on one side

A few miles south of the interstate on 431 is a forestry road to the right that will take you back in there. I have a friend that kills several every year in there hunting the evenings when he gets off work. They have blocked the road with a dirt mound about a mile in but you can walk past it to get closer to the golf course.

Thanks for the info, it's close to where I work so it would be a good place to hunt in the afternoons. Phil you only need a valid hunting license to hunt the national forest.

AS long as it's not part of Oakmulgee WMA all you need is a valid Alabama hunting license. If its part of the WMA it's subject to their schedule.

I hunt NF land a few times every year to give my leased land a rest. The only thing I ever see is squirrels and mountain goats.
