I think if I lived in a county like that I'd just find the warden and show him my license before the season started. That must be a flat lander thing to do. I believe I'd stand a better chance of getting struck by lighting than a warden walking up on me in the mtns. I know they give the duck hunters a good check over around here but that's about it.We've got some pretty good ones I might add up here in Jackson.

I had Henry Co wardens Doster and Carroll (I think) walk in and check me this morning in my stand. They were very nice and professional. I didn't have a problem with them doing their job. Positive experience. So you were hunting (or trying to hunt) and someone came up to your stand and said "Hey, how ya doing?"? And oh by the way, ya got a license? Phuck that. Yup thats about how I feel too. I understand that they have to do their job but, at what cost? Me hunting legally and getting my hunt messed up? Now, if they have reason to believe there is something illegal going on then by all means come check it out. But, on a whim? Yeah I am not going to be happy. I hunt public land and I have not had a game warden come up to me in the woods. I have been checked as I was loading up heading out and driving out.

The vast majority of AL conservation officers are courteous and professional. Most are family-oriented and enjoy the outdoors too. And most carry out their duty well while treating others like they want to be treated.

I've got no problem with the way GW's are trying to do their job. Problem we are seeing is less experienced GW learning the ropes. More experienced GW's as has been in the same county for years has 3 kind of hunters:
1). The ones they know they don't have to worry about.
2). The ones they know they have to worry about.
3). The ones they just don't know good or bad.

How can a warden check you hunting if he doesn't check you while your hunting? Just cause you have a hunting license at the store doesn't mean you have it on you while hunting, or have your harvest record of have on your Orange.

jeeze, IF all a GW did was wait at the vehicle he would check maybe three folks all day because he wasted 90% of the day sitting on his arse. And he dang sure wouldn't catch many, if any, violators.
Tell me how one is to catch illegal baiters sitting at the vehicle. And I caught lots of baiters that I had no idea there was bait till I got there. Same for not wearing yer orange...LOTS of folks don't wear it when hunting but put it on when approaching the vehicle. Just a couple of examples.....
and you whiners...just how many times per season have you been checked at your stand????

I've been hunting for 40+ years and I've been checked twice (not counting dove shoots where every one was checked). Once on the road coming out of Pope Tower when it was part of Thomas (now Freedom Hills) and once in the tree. I don't like getting checked in the tree, but I ain't gonna fuss about such a rare event. Dude's job is hard enough.

If there is no probable cause then it should be illegal for a game warden to come on to private property while I am hunting and mess up my hunt just to see if I have orange on and have my license on me. I have not had it happen to me and I hope it never does. My step-dad had it happen one time some years ago. He was looking for someone hunting over corn. It was the adjoining property. My step-dad ended up giving him a ride back to his truck because of where he parked.
