If they have a complaint and the trucks are similar, then absolutely nothing wrong with the stop and questioning. Now that last line is so wrong, I can't comment.

When I was at Auburn a friend and I got stopped for spotlighting(legal then) by an idiot Auburn Campus cop. His last line was the same as your stop....I told him to wait around and I'd be back in an hour. I was too, with an off duty Deputy friend of mine. Didn't see anybody.

My son was at the camp and I didn't want to have to explain to his mama why I was in jail and he was at the camp. I know a thing or two about dealing with the Law Enforcement when stopped, I have many LEO friends, and 4 year degree in Criminal Justice doesn't hurt. I was polite, non confrontational, yes sir, no sir, your right sir, and did everything in my power to be able to allowed to leave. I do know in that situation I am powerless and in a no win situation no matter what I say, so its best to say nothing, smile and be polite. The whole situation was more of a scare tactic than anything, even though we had guns in the truck we had no alcohol, drugs and had done nothing wrong, so in my mind I knew they could really do nothing to us, but believe me they tried.

What was very funny was the next afternoon I killed a 21 inch wide 8 point on the farm that I was hunting and posted the pic and a message to the GW. I said dear Mr. GW I don't have to shoot deer off the side of the road I can kill them in the woods. Later I found out that he was stalking my Facebook page and seen it. LOL Thats kinda funny.
