I thought the same thing at one time. Then I actually got a 700.

I have owned 3 700s and one model 7. They all shot as well as my Tikka's and Brownings I owned. All I had to do was find the ammo they liked.

Seems to be a common thread with 700 owners. They all love them for their accuracy...after they spend several hundred dollars to get them to shoot worth a damn. I don't get it either.
