If the screws on the stock are tight forget about any stock work. That's not where to start at this point. Floating the barrel is not a cure-all for accuracy problems. It should shoot much better without floating.

If your stock is tight, screws on bases and rings are tight and you are certain 100% your scope isn't the problem....

And you've properly broken in the barrel and tried 3-4 different loads.

If you are still getting 2.5-3 inch groups get it ready to send it back to Remington. Their quality control in recent years had become the consumer.

Just take it to a gun smith and have him look down the barrel and report back on how bad the lands are rounded off and how bad the chatter marks are....
