Bullet went through so fast it didn't have time to expand. can be true. There are certain bullet heads that expand better and have reliable expansion only in certain range of FPS. What are the best gun myths you've heard?
Example, bullets rise when they come out of the barrel, a _____ is a good brush gun, it'll shoot right through bushes, etc. And a round will rise then flatten out then begin to descend once it lose energy

My uncle told me my 300 mag wouldn't leave a bit of meat on a deer. I told him that at least I'll never have to trail a deer. ...and, that's a myth, too. ...and, that's why I posted it,too

Bullets can go too slow to expand but not too fast to expand unless it is somehow faulty or designed not to expand, as in solids. A bullet does not ever rise. It starts to fall from the time it leaves the barrel. The perception is that it rises because you have aimed it up with reference to the scope line of sight, so that it will level out or fall on target at your point of aim.

Even people who know better have said the same thing because it is an easy way to describe the perceived effect without drawing a picture.

Once a Remington Woodsmaster starts jamming you might as well scrap it ,it's finished.I saw that proven wrong by the gunsmith that I use.

You can have that. But if you will look at any bullet manufacturers website you will see that there are max velocities to be used for every bullet type die to stability and lack of performance. That's not an opinion

The muzzle has to be pointed at an upward angle to do so.

That's not an opinion [/quote] Yes, but none of those guidelines are because a bullet will not expand if it's moving too fast. What happens is it expands too much. It will explode if pushed too hard. It won't go through so fast that it doesn't have time to expand. It can either go too slow to expand or expand too much and disintegrate. It might even become unstable before reaching the target. Those guidelines show at what speeds it expands properly the way it was designed to expand. I'm talking normal deer hunting bullets, not Armour piercing bullets or varmint bullets that are designed to explode. I'm not against you here, Just trying to dispel a myth.

One of my favorites is when ppl claim shotguns and handguns don't penetrate walls like an AR, or that they are safer than an AR in a HD situation.
There is also the "you just have to point a shotgun in the direction..."
