I was doing my devotional this morning and what I was reading was great, but it wasn't hitting my heart. I felt compelled to go to Psalms and start reading. So as I was browsing I came upon Psalm 59. David is calling out to the Lord because Saul is after him, wanting him dead.
I've been very stressed out lately with lots on my mind. The list of DHR issues with the "hopeful" adoptions has really been a burden on my spirit. Where do I go in times of trouble?
Have I really been relying on the Lord.....ummm no. I find myself relying on me....my own solutions, my own answers, my own thoughts when facing difficulty.
But my God is bigger than I am, and in his special and unique way he is always faithful, especially when I'm in His Word. He uses His Word to speak to my heart, to encourage me, to equip me, to comfort me, to strengthen me. He is my fortress, even when I fail to seek shelter there.
Where do we go when facing bad news, hard times, or difficulties in life? Do we turn inward to ourselves and our own understanding or do we let our hearts sing out to the Lord and take refuge in him?
David gives us a great example of what to do...sing out and recognize the Lord is our fortress! It is what my heart needed this morning most of all. Thought someone on here might need that same encouragement.
Psalm 59:16-17 ESV 16 But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. 17 O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.
"The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8
"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. Samuel Adams

That is my biggest problem.... Thanks.....
It's not a Passion, it's an Obsession. That's what I tell my wife, but she promptly informs it's a disease to which is incurable.
