I don't do it but have no problem if you do. I grew up hunting with my dad and grandad who are both old schoolers, and I wasn't ever allowed to call before season. Used to go listen several days a week about 1-2 weeks before season, and all I did was owl or crow called. Now do I think calling before season is bad, not at all. But for some that sit around and practically call the bird up before season, IMHO are making their jobs tougher. I actually was surprised to hear that one of my mentors call before season. He usually calls just enough to get a response and then lays it down which in my mind does no harm at all. I don't do it and or haven't done it yet but I'm not above it, just wanted to see where y'all stand on it.
