Or at least let us hand pick teams (so we would at least have a snowball's chance in hell) until such time that Team 1 is finally dethroned. Then disband that hand picked team that beat them, and then finally go back to doing it by random draw. The way it is done now....Team 1 ain't gonna lose. That's just the way it is!

I never thought that about the Pine Goats pal. On the contrary....I'll put all of the money that any of you suckas care to bet with me on Team 1 in the turkey contest though.

If team 1 wants to disband they can do so, but they earned the title and until they decide to call it they are team 1. A randomly drawn team beat the pine goats this year and the current turkey champs were randomly drawn and beat the old team 1 turkey champs that won it for 5 years or so. I know because I was on both of the team 1s that were dethroned. It's all in fun and to me and it is much more rewarding to beat a true champion that is tried and true than for there to be a new team 1 every year. It will happen eventually, maybe this year, maybe 5 years. They ain't getting rich off of the money and prizes they are winning that's for sure.


As far as keeping folks from signing up who don't end up participating I don't know how you are going to do that. All you can do is ask them not to sign up if they are not going to participate. You can't do it off of number of posts because you have folks who bust up in here each year with 1 post that are straight up turkey murders and others who have never been before with 3000 posts.

I don't really know if there is a better way to do it in all honesty, but that is also precisely why it ain't as fun right now to me though. The fun of the contest has been over with for me the last two years on the day you drew the teams when it could have potentially been fun for two solid months if I thought my team had a prayer. Just being honest. Like you said....it ain't for nothing but fun anyway so it ain't REMOTELY a big deal to me. Obviously, I ain't the only one that thinks this way though.

I like the idea, but I'm afraid there wouldn't be enough turkeys or hunters in Jackson county to field a decent team

Y'all crack me the heck I'm almost wheel chair bound so Team #1 will have to carry me this year I'm not sure I'll kill my 3 or hunt nearly as many states I'm due a bad streak after my two banner seasons. All it will take is for a few of us to have bad season like team #1 did in the deer contest. Quit the whining Jughead and sign up pal. We aren't unbeatable

Jughead I lost my best honey hole last year so I may not even kill a bird. I'll have to see what I can scratch together to help my team out this year. It's going to be a challenge I tell ya.

You won't have to kill one no way. With archaic being back in the mix....the 5 of them will whip all of our arses handily anyway.
