Pride is A sense of one's own proper dignity or value; self-respect. Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement, possession, or association. So if I use any other means other than what you want me to use, I lose my self-respect... So try again.....
Thank you
If you have a difference of opinion just state it as such. Dont try to bash and demoralize the people that dont agree. Pride and morals go much more into a man than turkey hunting.
Next thing your going to say is we cant shoot them off the limb. Geez
Great post! And its way harder than most folks think to slip up under a gobbler and shoot him out at daylight than most folks think it is. All kinds of things can go wrong.
All the labor of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled.

I have killed turkeys with decoys, with out decoys and by turkey reaping. There is no shame in killing a turkey however you have to do it, the sport is not called "turkey calling", it is called "turkey hunting". The turkey call is just another tool in our vest just like the decoy to bag that ole gobbler. By the way, crawling behind a full strut decoy and having a long beard charging you in half strut is the most adrenaline pumping way to kill a big stubborn Alabama field gobbler that won't come to anybody's calls.

I still vote for going old school with rifles ... you could really teach those stubborn field birds a lesson - and not have to get down in the ticks and chiggers to do it!

Good lord. I thought this was the turkey forum?? SCB, I'll kill mine legally and you ought to do the same. Not saying that you don't. I've never killed one this way, and I plan on it this year. It's legal, and I've killed my fair share using most other perfectly legal ways. By no means has that gotten boring! But this looks like fun, and it's legal, so if I kill one on the 14th like this and it's easy, I just won't count that one . If I could kill every turkey I saw by fanning, well that wouldnt be my cup of tea. I don't think any of us hunt because it's a "sure thing" to kill every time. I have sense enough to know that if it was that way, the actual fun would be gone. But if you want something changed so bad, take off to Montgomery and try to change it. As long as it's legal, people are gonna do it, and there's no use moaning and groaning, especially on this forum where MOST of that crap stays dormant. Good luck this year, and I hope you fan all five to 3 feet and kill the hell outta them!

They have a weird inflection on the end of the gobble

Exactly the reason I don't have a huge issue with it, there isn't much terrain in Alabama that's conducive to fanning. Now you take out west somewhere and that's part of the reason most of those boys are shitty turkey hunters. I don't necessarily have a problem with it, but I don't like that it has come to tv shows where nobody can kill a bird without a blind, a spread of decoys, face paint, and a flat bill.

Lol! The blind and decoy spread thing is not attractive to me, on video or in real life. By mid November, I'm tired if sitting and waiting on something to walk by. But whatever floats your boat!

I think it looks like a freakin' adrenaline over-dose. I'd do that in a heartbeat....on private land. I think you could rise and shoot a lot sooner than those guys in the video. That video was made to sell. In reality I think we would all rise and shoot once gobbler was no closer than 15 to 20 yards. What shell would you use? All sixes, dove shot, or ?
