I really enjoyed the deer contest this year. I was fortunate to be with a jam up group of guys. I really want to sign up for this contest but I suck at turkey hunting and probably won't kill one. I will only have a few chances to hunt because rice planting season is the same time as turkey season. I will only make 2 maybe 3 weekend hunts so I'm gonna sit out and sit back and read all the fun posts about the season.

But, yes it would be nice if everyone would participate if they sign up.

Like last year, our team had 3 members that killed 3 or more a piece, and 3 that didn't kill a one. Honestly, I think a team of 5 or 6 guys that were just average hunters could stand a good chance of winning. The problem is when you automatically subtract two or three members, you will never make up the spread.

I say let us pick teams of 3, then randomly combine them with other picked teams of 3.....

This contest, while really fun, puts a LOT of pressure on guys who normally just go out and have fun. Nobody wants to be "that guy" on a team and not kill one. We've been very fortunate the past several years to kill some good birds that helped us win. I was on some teams where some guys didn't kill birds when Yek and his bunch were Team 1 for so many years. The guys felt bad about it and some didn't join in again. Let's all have a safe year and if we kill some gobblers, it will be that much better.

That is exactly why I still enter this contest. Others that I used to compete in, you had to take so many pictures, it took the fun out of it. These are easy enough that even with practically no chance of winning, it is still fun.

I'd rather do away with teams myself and just do the contest as every man for himself,that way you have no one to blame but yourself if you don't kill a bird,team 1 is hard to beat because those guys all do what it takes to kill birds and every member contributes,I don't see any team beating them because 99% of the other teams have members that won't hunt or only go a time or two a season and that just hurts their teams chances,I'm prolly not gonna sign up anymore unless it goes to an individual contest or 2 man teams

Yal are making a big deal out of this. Whining because you cant have the teams you want. Its just for fun guys. Dont be so serious.

Not whining,I'm not gonna sign up if I'm not gonna contribute,that's why I don't do the deer contest because I know I may not kill a deer but every few years so there's no need in signing up,I just want teammates that are gonna atleast go hunting and try instead of signing up and not going at all

But you know both of you would contribute. So sign up and hope you get team members that can contribute just as much. If all the decent hunters have yals attitude then there would be no point in even having the contest.

When this came up last year, someone mentioned you should have a minimum number of posts to be able to participate. I thought that was a decent idea to weed out some non-participants.

Jughead, you would whine even worse when we all hand picked teams and you were in the losing team again. The same thing would happen with one team dominating the contest. We would/could stack a team and win every year. Go over to old gobbler and tndeer and ask them what team alabama did to them.
