I walked out on the porch yesterday, looked towards one of my plots and saw some movement. I could see something white moving around, and thought man that can't be turkey. Got my optics and sure enough a strutter, strutting his stuff. Head so white/blue i could see it from 200 yards. Never saw a hen, but the way he was acting, one had to be with him. I know they strut whenever, but this one was acting awfully frisky, for the weather to have been so cold.

Man I wish I could wake out on the porch with a cup of coffee and watch a longbeard doing his thing.
Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

I'm not going to lie to ya'll, it is nice. A couple years ago, i had 6 gobblers in my yard, a week before the season, key word here is before season. After that, they didn't come in the yard, but they got close. Last year, i decided not to go hunting early, on a Sunday. I walked outside about 8 am. Heard one gobbling in this same plot. Got dressed, walked down to the plot, called one time and killed him. My wife heard the shot, she was on the porch drinking coffee. I called her and she said, you barely had time to get down there, when i heard you shoot. Sometimes it works out that way.
