The more I read the comments and suggestions on how to make things more competitive it all cracks me up  You guys do realize two of us hunt multiple states right? We normally kill well over 5 birds each due to this fact. We communicate very well as a team. Most if not all of us know how each other's season is going. As a teammate and to help my team they all have an open invite to hunt with me or ask for help. I've never had a single one take me up on the offer but as a team player I feel obligated to help my teammates if need be. In my opinion that's helping a teammate rather than entering a extra bird on his behalf over my limit of 3. I do not speak for my teammates opinion but I'll share mine. I'm willing to go along with 16 to 18 bird entry format or whatever has been dreamed up if only we are "declared the Aldeer turkey team of all time that could not be dethroned under the current format and rules". This title also needs to be posted in a sticky thread every year in the turkey contest forum as long this website remains active. I'm sure Scott can deign us a nice internet trophy of sorts to go along with our new title In closing this contest is not easy to win! I feel confident in saying my teammates and I hunt hard and often! Whoever beats us under the current format will earn every second of it.  Whoever beats you under the format will be lucky as heck. I'm not saying I"m one of them, but I could hand pick about 10 teams that would perform exactly like yall's does every year. Your team just had the fortune of getting a team that I would have hand picked, by the luck of the draw.

That's what I was thinking Todd!! We ain't scared of any team at this point. We won 2 years with ArKic being in Germany and not scoring a bird. You CAN win with a guy getting skunked. You ain't gonna win by killin 2 year olds though...... seems like yall had about 6 or so 2 year olds on yall's final scoreboard.....Yall win by sheer numbers, and aint nothin wrong with that, cuz freak birds are just luck. What Todd is saying is don't give us the opportunity to cull those 2yr olds. Those in our score are the best my teammates killed last year. It's not an accurate reflection of what could have been added to cull those lower scoring birds.

If it's just sheer numbers, how did we win the 2 years Scott didn't score a bird? We killed birds that scored high enough to make up the difference. It's all about killing some high scoring birds to make up the difference if a teammate does not kill their 3.

I understand what he is saying. no doubt culling two year olds is beneficial, but except for the occasional freak here and there, most birds are within 50-75 range. I guess what I'm getting at, is having those slots filled is more important than bird size.

I just looked back because I couldn't remember who all was on the old Team 1 with Yekrut and his crew. That team was:
Yekrut
N2Deer
Breeze1
Solo
Rebelpiper
Brotherhood
I'm sure while that team was reigning that there were a lot of people whining about how they would never be beaten and needed to change the rules. Then, the new team 1 was drawn and beat them.
It's all luck of the draw and I would much rather beat Team 1 under the current rules that they have won under than having to change the rules to increase my odds.
Besides all of that, I've now been a part of several turkey contests on several different sites, and they are all a PITA. This contest is really the only one that I enjoy being a part of. So, I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I agree I also am not giving team 1 the satisfaction of having been the team that can't be beat stuck on this forum. I do my part in killing turkey's so maybe I will get lucky with a draw team and wear there a$$ out. U never know but they r beatable.
I wish I could breathe life back into him,
If I could I'd hunt him again tomorrow. ..

I havent looked yet to see if I can pull up who was on my team last year but we gave it a good run for the money. If I did my math right we had second place with one team member that didnt score and we only hunted in Bama. Itll be tuff to beat em but its doable. Us in North bama sure gotta travel alittle since our season is 2 weeks shorter. We were on the same team. We had some boys from southeast Alabama as well who killed their 3 each. I had forgotten about our one team member who didn't kill a bird. I hope we get to be on the same team again Mr. Clif.

It will happen by luck and the site is getting more and more people that kill turkeys.
Since we are changing things let's just say every turkey you kill can go towards the contest no since in a limit of three.

I do believe that we should give some kind of bonus points for a public land bird, especially one killed late in the season. I killed my only public land bird on April 30 a few years back at like 11AM on the Cahaba WMA. Nothing like bringing it down to the wire. I felt like I had one the Super Bowl. Doesn't get much harder than that...

I'm gonna say this and I won't say anything else,our team put 14 birds on the board last year,some on the team killed more than 3 and one member killed a few out of state birds that he didn't enter because it wouldn't have mattered,if we could've entered 18 birds total like has been proposed,then just by using our teams average we would've been over 1,000 points.it makes it a little more competitive when you can put your team within a 100 points of the leader instead of 300 points,and I know some will say you still lost no matter if it's 1 point or 500,Yekrut takes the time to run the contest so it's ultimately up to him if any changes are made and I'm good with however he wants to run it,we are just making some suggestions,not whining,and thanks for running it Yekrut.
