When it comes to moon conditions, I track the percent of the moon's surface that is illuminated, and whether the moon is waxing or waning. I've found, that for equal percentages of the surface illuminated, waning is always better than waxing. In addition, I've found that for buck activity, hunter sightings peak on a waning moon just before the New moon, and are lowest on a waxing moon just before it reaches Full.
