So you're saying if a piece of steel, lets say angle iron, was hanging from two chains. The chains were both 1' from each end. Also, there was a scale hooked in line with the chains and each scale read 200 lbs , for example.
Now I raised one end of the steel 2', the lower end would now read more than 200 lbs and the higher scale would read less? Take it to this extreme: take that piece of angle iron and stand it at 90* from the floor. Where's all the weight now. And as you let the piece back down to 0*, the weight gradually balances.
