Good for you! Since you've told us you are smarter than the average bear, I'm sure you've looked into his background and know how he came to his way of thinking. It is no wonder to me how guys like Romney and McCain keep getting the nomination when real conservatism isn't recognized by the very ones who say they are for it.

You're right. It won't happen. That's all political stump-speech bluster aimed at the masses of voters, just like Obama's "we're going to end this war! we're going to close Gitmo!" yammering that took a 180 once he got into the Big Chair and realized speeches and reality are two vastly different things. And they all know this going into the campaigns ... they know what they're saying isn't possible if elected but they say it anyway because the masses suck it up.

All politicians lie, straddle fences, say and do things they don't want or like to do. All of 'em. We'll see how Cruz does on the campaign trail.

So as constitutional conservatives who are we supposed to believe or support? I mean where is the perfect candidate that some of y'all think that can get our country back on the right track if Cruz isn't one of them. If that person doesn't exist or meets your standards as an conservative are you not going to vote and we'll just give it away again to the liberals?

And I'm not saying that about just any Republican because I like some of you can't stand a RINO which I don't think Cruz and Paul are but even a RINO would be better than a Hillary at this point.

And if a Liberal wins again this time chances are they will get re elected for a second term. Y'all our country can't handle another eight years of Liberal policies! Think about what the last seven have been like plus one more to go. That would be SIXTEEN YEARS of ultra liberal polices!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. As for Obama, I think he has gotten more of his agenda pushed through than any politician I can ever remember. The things Cruz mentioned could be done if the American public got behind him and pushed hard enough. One thing is for sure, you won't get anything done if you don't try.

I haven't seen a candidate that I could get behind. It just comes down to picking the lesser of 2 evils. The last few elections were throwaway votes for a Republican candidate. I wish that a 3rd party would emerge and that would be something I could get behind.

If we're really wanting a Christian, conservative candidate, I don't think there's one out there (even Huckabee dances around his Christian beliefs so he doesn't offend people).

I wish we'd overturn Roe vs. Wade before Obamacare. We have over 3,000 innocent babies murdered in this country every single day. Just because it's "convenient." We've had just over 3,000 American Soldiers die in combat in Iraq & Afghanistan over the last 12 years. Think about that. 3,000+ babies every single day.

When is somebody going to be brave enough to step up and fix the social welfare system? They're robbing the working people so that lazy bums with no education can sit at their free home with their free cell phone and their free EBT cards and their free health care. If that were to stop, there'd be massive "unemployment" for years probably because all those people would have to actually find jobs. Who would be brave enough to step up and fix that? And they're also giving taxpayer money to "illegals" as tax refunds without making them prove that they actually paid taxes into the system.

When is a Christian candidate going to step up for what they believe in and stand up for the working man???

This pretty much sums it up. I'm tired of voting against a candidate...just once, I'd like to get excited about voting for someone.

You really do need to read more about Cruz and his background. You obviously haven't and are just having a knee jerk reaction that has nothing to do with the reality of his beliefs or record.

Gowdy is a slick lawyer that has made a name for himself on Benghazi but very little of substance to show. He has talked a good game but I've seen very little action. I did see him recently say he really can't do anything to Hillary without the support of the democrats. Sounds like a cop out to me.

You would be better off not posting and let people assume you have a modicum of intelligence than to post and all doubt be removed.

Well, none of 'em, really.

Good point.

He just grates on my nerves more so than most. I'm not saying I've completely ruled him out, and if he ends up being the (R) nominee then so be it, just can't really get excited over him.

He is the only politician I've seen in a very long time that actually tries to do the right thing even when no one else will stand with him. His record is impressive and he is as principled a man as we have had run since Reagan. We won't have a better chance to ever end the massive corruption in government than we will if Cruz is elected.

I agree with you on this one 100%. the establishment repubs hate him just as much as the dems. He has to be doing something right!

Why because it's true... He was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada 12/22/1970

I'm just tired of the hypocrisy in our government with a guy beating the obama birth drum when his mom was an American. He himself is in the same exact boat with a mother being an American and dad Cuban, born in Canada.

But whatever, keep following the ole hypocrisy that is going on in politics.

I'd rather have Rubio than him anyways.

That is what is so stupid about a liberals mind set. They claim to be the touchy feeling people that love and care about everyone but don't give a damn about the life of an unborn baby. And how about the bumper stickers you see that say " I'm a democrat and a Christian. " What? I wish one of them could explain that to me.
