Best of luck to you next week, and as someone who has struggled in the past on public land, I really do mean that.

EDIT: Actually nevermind, the more I think about it, no, I don't

Since you failed to show me where I got the bad attitude to start, I take it as you not being able to. That's fine. If I you get the impression I was being rude before people were rude to me, then I apologize. As far as you "not" wishing me good luck, that is fine too. I've taken many deer and turkey before you and will after regardless of your "wishes."

I don't have a dog in this fight because I don't hunt public land, but here's what you seem to be having problems with. Evidently, the fellow hunters you've been around in the past have been outstanding people - folks who'd do any and everything to help someone else have success.

Aldeer has MANY of those kind of people on it... guys who'd do anything they can to help guys be more successful. However, Aldeer also has some people that are just the opposite. They are hunters who lurk on these boards just waiting for tidbits of information that they can use to THEIR benefit. IF you were to post the coordinates of a bird that gobbles 100 times every morning on public land, I guarantee you will see hunters at that location tomorrow morning.

Because of the presence of this second type of people on Aldeer, even the helpful people on this forum are very tight-lipped. Though they probably wouldn't be that way person-to-person, they are that way here because they've learned that loose lips on this site "sinks ships".

You may not acknowledge it, but in your original post when you asked "Can any of you guys give me some tips or advice on what areas to focus on or avoid", you're asking for advice on "spots" to hunt - and no matter what you say now to clarify it, that was what you asked. Your response when people replied to your OP has been to call people names, tell people why they should be more helpful, and generally paint everyone on this forum in a bad light. Even the most helpful people aren't prone to help someone who reacts in this way. If you want help, ask your questions and sit back and read the comments - and if they don't provide what you want move along. Reacting by name calling and disparaging everyone? Most folks on this site automatically click off the thread - and they certainly won't be benevolent to you.

I think the point is on the table, lets move along. Tidefan, good luck with your scouting, it takes a lot of work or a lot of luck to kill public land birds.

I see how my original post could have confused some but I wasn't the only one who got an attitude. People are very quick to point out what I did wrong but look over what the "regular posters" say. I did take time and thank the ones who PM'd me some helpful info. There were also those who knew exactly what I was asking and called out those who overreacted. But I will always respond to those who tell me "you don't seem like much of a hunter". You would too.

They weren't the guys asking for help... you were. Had you simply replied to the first sarcastic comments by simply saying "I recognize folks here don't seem to be willing to share information publicly, so pm me if you'd help", this thread wouldn't be four pages long and you'd have more info in your inbox.

You replied with "Oh ok. I was mistaken. I thought this forum was for people to share knowledge and advice between one another. Didn't know it was a place to go where you tell people you have secret but can't tell. I guess these are the same guys that when asked where they caught their fish they say "in the mouth." and "So people are worried about the "world" showing up and hunting their spot? That's absurd." Whether you realize it or not, you implied everyone on this site enjoys being sarcastic and thinks absurdly. Going to follow Atoler's advice on this one - best of luck next week and sorry for the passing of your father.

Tide. I personally think Gomer & BGD are being rude for no good reason but I still wouldnt take anyone too seriously. BGD doesnt take himself too serious seems like except when he is about to 86 a trespasser. In general I hunt private land but every now and then I will venture out with the WMA guys. And I can tell you its a lot harder, so I don't mind you asking advice. Smart if you ask me.

Pretty simple solution to that.
If you see a truck parked, keep going.

Let me break this down for you.
Over 720 views of this thread so far.
If ONLY 1% of viewers are lurking for info because they saw "Hollins" in the title and that inspired them to click on the thread - you plus 7 others just got educated on whatever info may have been given. Be it a spot, a turkey pic, a limit of ducks killed, a picture of a nice buck, whatever - now they have it in their minds "hey this might not be a bad place to try". And no telling how many people they talk to about it. It easily goes exponential. In the end, the place gets more and more crowded. And being that this is the interweb, google will bring this thread back to life forever on anyone searching turkey hunting Hollins. Its like a gift that keeps on giving! More & more people can read all about it.

Cool man! I had fun "swizzling" the lyrics to fit our trials & tribulations hunting turkeys, lol

Only the contrary - try hard, and I wish you great success!

Just don't post about where it happened.

Read the fine print on the huntin' rules at Hollins; apparently, they have a dress code:

I have a question about WMA's in general. If the WMA says no turkey hunting past 1pm, can you still scout with a call (hoot owl), etc past 1pm as long as you have no gun?

Also, they require you to check in with anything you kill, and pose for mandatory pictures before leaving their WMA:

I thought you said you had the week off? Oh well, good luck to you, buddy, and Roll Tide Roll.

Check out my YouTube channel sometime, and my posts on Team Noob on OG. I'm helping dozens of guys; in fact, one guy is winning a tournament over in GA based off help I'm giving him, and last year a COMPLETE NEWBIE to turkey hunting tagged out on PUBLIC LAND, based on my help/assistance to him.

BGD...I will take some of that help....damn if I know how to kill one this year.....
