I went and picked up all their gear and guns plus his truck and four wheeler. I called up there to tell his dad I took all their stuff and put it up in the garage and his dad told me he would never hunt again after this.

I went and picked up all their gear and guns plus his truck and four wheeler. I called up there to tell his dad I took all their stuff and put it up in the garage and his dad told me he would never hunt again after this. I hate to sound harsh, but he probably doesn't need to be hunting.

We paid 2300 bucks each to be in a club with low membership so we wouldn't have to deal with lots of hunters around and never would I have dreamed this kind of thing would have happened to anyone in this club. Guess It goes to show you have to take safety to the highest level even hunting with someone you would trust with your life. This is a prime example of how quick things can go wrong.

I think rather than to the highest level this instance shows that safety needs to be taken to it's most basic level. Never shoot unless you are sure of your target. My prayers go out to this family but this is the kind of accident that should never happen.

The best thing the son can do is when he is able take his Dad hunting, it would be a great recovery for both

Sounds like the son will survive, although the family's hunting time is likely over. His eye may not be lost, I had a friend many years ago that hit a 16 penny nail that ricoched and stuck in his eye. He was carried to Dothan to the Eye Center of the South and after close to a year he was able to see some in that eye.

Left uab last night about ten after he came out of surgery and they were able to close hole in front but weren't able to close hole in back of eye and it needs to close up for him to have a chance to keep his eye. Thanks everyone for the prayers he needs all the ones he can get right now
