I encountered one this past saturday. He sounded like a grown'un and I thought I was about to kill my first turkey. When he made it to where I could see him he had a beard that was about 2" long and was sticking up and he acted like a dumb bird. He did strut, but I don't remember exactly what his fan looked like. He acted the way I would expect a young, uneducated bird to act.
