I bought my wife a 642 airwieght for Christmas and IMO the quality leaves a lot to be desired Really? Please explain. I've bought 3 over the years and changed the springs out with the APEX Duty kit. Other than that mine have been excellent. It 's harder to open than I think it should be. The pin through the cylinder is actually causing a groove in the back of the frame.

Ken, you have a defective handgun. You need to contact S&W about that. None of mine come close to doing anything like that. They all open very easy and they may have a very light mark from the pin but I've never noticed.

Another possibility is the LCR in 22 magnum.

They all open very easy and they may have a very light mark from the pin but I've never noticed. I did. They tried to tell me it was normal but want me to send pictures. I did and they said they would try to respond in 2-3 business days. The cylinder also is wearing on the side of the frame when the action is open although I can't figure out why because I can't make it do to.

Stay on 'em. Something is wrong with that weapon. Tell 'em that if the damn thing blows up in your hand they'll have far worse problems.
