The turkey gods were walking with me yesterday. I asked a buddy if he wanted to hunt with me yesterday morn, he wanted to drink Friday night so he said he wasn't waking up early, but we could hunt his place(way better than mine) around 10 if I wanted. We got there around 10:30 and just started walking. Walked and called for 2 hrs and didn't see or hear anything. Headed down the road to another piece he has and we walked and called that with no luck again. As were driving out we see 2 gobs in a peanut field so we keep driving outta sight, and we bail outta the truck. We're doing the turkey 2 step, walking 2 steps and running 2 steps tryng to get on them. We get to where we thought they were and I snuck around the corner with my fan up. They saw it lit up and one half strutted but they wouldnt close the distance and walked off into a small head of woods. We ran around to the other side of the wood lot put the funky chicken and a hen out and set up. I yelped one sequence and here they come outta the woods heading for the dekes. They get as close as they're gonna get and we give it the 3,2,1 shoot. I drop mine and his flies off. I run out to him and I'm thinking dang that was a long run so I step it back to the tree and it was no joke 73 steps. I got really lucky I guess .665 Carlson and longbeard xr 6's. Looked like a deer kill shot. Went through his wing and blew up his chest. 12" beard 1" spur and one half broke spur

Unless you are just lucky, the first one is normally the hardest. At least it was for me. Now that you know how to kill one it will get a little easier. Congrats. Great story!
