Thinking of having an inground pool built...against my better judgment. What would a basic inground pool cost with the concrete work done?

Friend of mine installs them very basic small pool is 18-20k and a good family size is 25k. We went with a 24ft round above ground and serves the same purpose without the cost. I know someone that just had a 30ft round above ground installed for 7-8k.

Like previous posters have said, anywhere from 18k to 30k depending on how fancy u get. I installed a 15'x30'x52" in our backyard. The pool itself originally sold for 6500$ plus 1000$ for installation. I bought it from a friend a took it from his yard and reconstructed in mine. Inground pools are definitely superior to above ground BUT, the cost is just not worth it to me personally. U have to factor what the pool is gonna cost per year into your budget and it's not cheap. A pool will easily cost u 100-200$ a month to keep it up. And that's if u have a small pool that's balanced. My advice would be look at all your options and talk to several people who have pools. We've had our above ground for 4yrs now and we are very pleased. I was able to build a nice deck and put landscape all the way around and I'm still under 1/4 of what a inground would cost

Think about where you'll be spending 90% of your time... Shallow or deep end? You can get a 36' round for less than half the price... Alot of installers will no longer put in diving boards either due to liability.....If you have a bobcat and a transit handy...you can do it yourself with a little help and save even more money...... I installed them for years while I was in school and can answer any question you may have....

against my better judgment. Burn this in yer brain ^^^^. My wife and kids hinted for one for a few years. Didn't happen. My cousin has a fine spring fed pond across the field , they were welcomed to swim it anytime.

. A pool will easily cost u 100-200$ a month to keep it up. And that's if u have a small pool that's balanced. My advice would be look at all your options and talk to several people who have pools. I respectfully disagree with this... We have had a 32'x20' in ground Gunnite and diamond brite plaster pool. it was bid any where from 40k to low 20k. If set up right, they are not difficult or expensive to maintain. when the water gets above 55* it takes me about 10 min every few days total to maintain our pool. you do need to learn a few things about pool chemistry and get a GOOD test kit. I use liquid chlorine for the chlorine and muratic acid and arm and hammer to balance the Ph. I keep our pool open all year long and spend LESS than 250$ PER YEAR on chemicals. once the water goes below 55* all you have to do is maintain the ph. Before you make any Decisions you need to read up a little on This site once you learn a few things on the chemistry and get a good test kit you will NEVER need to go to any type of pool store or buy and "special" chemicals, clarifiers, or algaecides. We have not regretted getting our pool at all since we built it, it brings all our family together during the warm months and has provided many hours of pure joy for our family.

Yes, that's why you get a variable speed pump on a timer and all it takes is to turn over the pool water once per day. mine will run for 5 hours max and that will turn the water 1.5x. I end up draining more water than I put in it. on the initial fill to fill the entire 19,000 gallon pool was only 300$. So during the summer if I add water we are talking about possibly 10$ per mo. Also Notice I said 250$ per year on Chemicals. the water and power are nominal expenses on a pool the Chemicals are what usually run up the expense of a pool. Do a little reading on the site I linked you might be able to save yourself quite a good bit in the short and long term, or If I can help you out I'd be glad to.

I haven't read responses. Don't put one in. Ours was 18,000 7 years ago for 18x36. When you get tired of it it is just there. Can't sell it or anything. I'm ready to fill mine in with dirt.

My friend who got one barely uses his 4 years later...kids are grown...no time to get in it...best decision I ever made was not getting one. You will get all the guilt trips...so sorry. I fell for it with a dog...we will take care of it.....yeah right...burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me.
good luck...listen to your inner voice and better judgment put the 25K into your kitchen and bathroom...at least you will get a return on your investment

Make friends with someone who already has one... This. Pools are like big boats in that regard. make friends with someone who has one and enjoy it a couple weeks a year instead of hating yourself the whole year
