10 MINUTE MILE!Heck they aint nothing wrong with that.My pace in Nashville for the half was 10:45 (granted I couldnt get a good dump before the race so I was carrying extra weight) but still 10 is very satisfactory.I just want to finish and have a decent run,I dont push for fast times anymore.

I ran a half marathon back in Dec at PC Beach in 2:12, now a full marathon is on the bucket list. I atleast want to do one.

I've done a couple of 5k runs. One was the warrior dash couple yrs ago. A group of us done it together and it was a blast all around, the race, the entertainment, the food. Would like to do it again sometime. I also did a color run with my wife. It was in H'Ville and after half a mile I was having some bad shin splints and walked Half of it off and on. So I believe it about good shoes making a difference.

I like the themed runs though. Kinda take your mind off of the fatigue.

I'm running 25-30 miles a week right now, all on the road. I've got 2 10k's in the next week and a half, a half in the fall and a full in December. I'll start ramping my mileage up to 50 or so miles a week around July to get ready for the marathon. I'd like to find a trail race in the late summer and give it a try.

There is a guy in my spin class that walked in with a fleet feet shirt on that had "pacer 3:30" I wanted to kick his ass, I hate skinny fit people who enjoy running.

Every sport or hobby has its diptards.

Bugman probably will be the only bonafide coon hunter in the RCM in December. I'm thinking of making camo signs with little treed raccoons on them for him.

So is "diptard" a term of endearment or are you faulting the guy for wearing a shirt that was given to him for being the pacer for runners with a marathon goal time of 3:30? I think I know who it was, and if I am correct, he is also a member of the Fleet Feet racing team and didn't always used to be a skinny, fit guy that could run.

Or are you faulting him for a going to a spin class? I could probably agree with you if that is the case. grin

I wouldn't wear a shirt with me holding a 10-pound bass on it saying, "MY 10-pound bass!" or a giant buck and "My 144-inch whitetail!" It just kind of smacks of "look at me, I not only ran it in 3:30 but was the pacer."

That's a cool accomplishment. Glad he did it, especially if he was a big ol' boy in the past. Just kind of reeks of uber-backpatting to me.

Spin class ... that's riding a stationary bicycle, right, but in intervals? Good cross-training or winter workout?

Some hamstring stretching info: http://www.runnersworld.com/stretching/10-tips-to-relieve-hamstring-tightness

This is the second time I've seen the "don't bend at the waist to touch your toes" advice. The first was a couple of years ago at a fitness center. The person said it puts undue stress on the lower back. I kinda thought that was crazy since we've been doing it this way for 80 or more years in PE, sports, etc. Lying on your back and being more stable makes more sense, I guess.

He's a sub-3 hour marathoner. I doubt there was any pretentiousness intended with wearing a pace-group leader shirt. Probably just a (free) clean shirt for an early trip to the gym.
