The heck with Obama, that's a different subject. Debate form, fellas, debate form....stay on topic. Who gives a rat's genitals if the police have nuclear weapons (exaggerated example)???? I, for one, have never seen a police who appeared "militarized". What are y'all talking about?
Why would I have any fear of police, regardless if militarized or not? It is their job to defeat lawlessness and thugery. If it takes special equipment for our military to do that abroad, what's the difference in police having here at home? A police in the midst of social unrest (Baltimore, for example) is in as much danger as soldiers. The whole basis of the second amendment is that we have the right to bear arms to protect ourselves from tyranny. Sure, we're outgunned by the military, if it came to that, but many people get nervous knowing that a less-trained, more fractured police population could have access to military grade stuff. RPGs, etc could allow a rogue sheriff, etc to apply martial law as he saw fit. Unlikely, yes, but clearly possible. As for me, I favor the de-militarization. That's sensationalism. I would be as surprised to see a unicorn fly over my office as I would to see that happen. But even still, IF that rogue sheriff wanted to apply martial law, he wouldn't need military equipment. That's kind of similar to saying we need to ban guns so folks won't kill folks.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Read the 3rd amendment that no one ever talks about and why our founding fathers thought to include it in the Constitution. Watch some youtube videos of Swat raids and then tell me some Police forces in this nation aren't completely out of control and that they need access to weapons of war only meant for military. Read how Hitler gained mass approval from the citizens and then tell me why it can't happen here. Every society in history has followed virtually the same path so why are we going to be so different than all the others when we are walking in the same footprints as other failed societies.

You've got a stranglehold on reality and Obama wasn't heavily influenced by Frank Marshall Davis or Saul Alinsky even though he said he was. He isn't using Cloward Piven Strategy even though he studied it and it fits perfectly with how he has operated. You truly have zero clue who Obama is or who his influences are and you have your mind made up regardless of the evidence to the contrary. It's one thing to be a conspiracy theory kook but it's no worse than to turn a blind eye to harmful policies just because Obama represents the same party you support.

Society as a whole is what is changing and evolving Troy. The elected officials are just representatives of that change. Merle Haggard was singing about the same chit 50 years ago. The things that are happening in this country, like gay marriage for example, are happening because it is the will of the majority of the people. Just because it isnt the way you want to see things progress does not mean that the system is broken and our country is destroyed. It's just the chitty end of becoming the minority.
