Change your diet.....now. Lots of greens, no red meat, alcohol, pretty much anything that is rich cut it out

My Dad swore by drinking black cherry juice for his flare-ups.

What are some early symptoms of gout? Or are there any? I've been having problems with my foot to the point I can't hardly put weight on it. Don't really want to go to the doc but may end up having to.

Changing your diet can help with decreasing your gout attack but your going to be miserable if you don't see a doc. You can take NSAIDS which will help with inflammation. Several medications they can prescribe but they may want to draw labs to confirm that it is gout. You will have a high Uric acid level if it's gout(Uric crystals cause the pain and irritation) but you may also have infectious arthritis. They may also want to stick a needle in the affected joint and withdraw fluid for analysis. But if you don't get it treated it can lead to worse stuff.

Been there, got rid of it!! Even after being tested, my Doc wasn't sure I was having gout attacks because sometimes my pain wouldn't be in the big toe, but would be in the bones in the top of my foot. To the point that I could barely walk. Finally got them to prescribe Allopurinol and that took care of it. Knock on wood, I haven't had an attack since I started the drugs, and haven't had to change my diet either.
Good luck!!

Stay hydrated.. drink lots and lots of water to help keep acid flushed. I take Methacin when I have a flare up and usually a couple of doses does the trick.

It works for me too and it's fast relief. Haven't had a flareup in over a year, knock on wood.

I love tuna fish. Especially tuna fish sandwiches. But if I eat it two days in a row, my left big toe reminds me why I can't eat it any longer.

allopurinol ! Had three flare ups with my big toe doctor put me on the med and no problems since. I don't drink but I do eat a lot of red meat so I think that was causing my problems .Eat what I like now and have not had any issues . Hopes this helps that gout is bad news!

I have severe gout, not just in my toe. In any joint on my body. Been diagnosed since I was 24. It sucks! Allopurinol can help with most cases. I have to take ULORIC and Indomethacin daily. I have Methylprednisolone when I have an attack. That will usually Knock out the inflammation in about 2-3 hours. Diet can help, get to know what triggers your inflammation. Mine is Shrimp, I'd vote for Barack Obama before ever eating one.
