I seriously thought about recommending turning some of his snakes loose. I know he's gotta have something that eats spiders.

Fur, lol. My snakes don't eat spiders.

But I would happy as could be if geckos were in my attic eating brown recluse spiders.

Well I don't know about all of the other stuff used to kill spiders and roaches but I have used this stuff Ortho. My GF is terribly afraid of them and while we do not have an infestation we do have quite a few that try to enter the house through the garage door and fireplace. I bought this stuff in the hopes that it would kill them, let me tell you it will turn spiders into little balls of dead matter in no time. I spray around every window, inside and out and heavily around the garage door and fireplace. We have pets and we have had her grandchildren visit and it has not harmed any of them. Just my humble two cents

Another vote for demon wp... I mix it strong and spray around the outside of my house at least twice a month and spray inside about once a month.

Years ago, after DDT was banned in the US, we would cross over into Mexico and buy it. We would buy a bottle of cheap tequila, pour out the tequila and fill it with DDT before coming back to the US. DDT was the best insecticide ever created. Too bad the farmers overused it to the point that it had to be banned in the US.

Another thing Matt is that unless you kill them with whatever you spray, they will feed on the other bugs that you kill making your situation worse. It may be worth talking to a pest control company and doing a complete bombing of your house while you stay away for a few days. Those suckers are evil and I know you want to protect your kids.

I've had someone tell this to me before, my question is if the spider eats a bug that has been poisoned then will the spider not ingest the poison as well?

After some serious consultation with some trusted colleagues, we have come to the following:

Turn them damn snakes out and let them eat the brown recluses.

You are welcome

This is the worst damn thread ever and I'm not even scared of spiders. I never knew so many people had spider problems.

I have been bitten twice at my house. First one got real nasty until I researched what to treat a recluse bite with. I took Echinacea and activated charcoal by mouth and applied activated charcoal to the bite. After an hour or so of the charcoal, applied PRID drawing salve to the bite. Took a week of this but it did the trick. Second bite cleared up quickly but I treated it like this immediately.

May not work for all but it worked for me.

i'll go to the camp/barn tomorrow and see what we use - i kid you not it will kill spiders, roaches/palmetto bugs, or any insect for a year. it is very concentrated; i don't think you mix more than an ounce to a gallon of water.

we spray all the outside brickwork of the barn and we spray the 2x6 base plate of all the walls on the inside.

nothing lives.

A Brown Recluse bite isn't something I wanna be messing around with and testing home remedies on.

Home remedies work as good as anything the Dr is going to do. Actually, there is no treatment a Dr can provide other than antibiotics if it gets infected. Nothing can be prescribed to stop necrosis if it starts.

DO NOT ATTEMPT HOME REMEDIES ON A RECLUSE BITE. TRUST ME !!!!
Two days after bite until after surgery and a five day stay in the hospital on some SERIOUS antibiotics!!!
