I agree, I'm currently trying to tell the whole neighborhood on Facebook that I would have come and petted that copperhead had I known. Bad part is i was #32 to post on the picture and not a single person questioned it. We have snake death stats.... Omg it's a wonder you are alive..... Burn the house down..... Etc.

I should have posted it was an anaconda. I could have bought up some cheap rental property... Damn I'm an idiot.

Good lookin snake. Unfortunate someone thinks it is a gross, evil, nasty, copperhead bastage. But I also understand erroring on the side of caution if you are not up to par on snake id.

Had one swimming across a place on Martin about a month ago. He wanted to get in the pontoon with us. Glad he didn't know where the ladder was. Springer would have torn up the boat getting after him. I was in the water at the time and looked up to see him headed toward me at about 5 feet and I couldn't tell what kind it was. Casually got out of the water. smile

Seems most people think that all snakes in or near water are moccasins and all snakes on dry land are copperheads or baby rattlers. smh

Just saw this B. I only had one eye open when you sent me the pic this morning lol. I guess I need to give Henry a lesson on snake ID.

I Thought the snake in the picture had a piece of copper on its head; hence copperhead.

Which brings up the question: what the heck is on that snakes head?

I saw a race track get shut down because a copper head was striking at the riders as they went by. One guy had a pistol with him and fired shots on the side of the track to kill it. The track manager said it was a rattle snake!
At the end of the day I looked into the back of the truck to find a 3 foot corn snake that had caused all the excitement!
