I decided I was going to attempt to do a turkey cape mount/display this past season, and finally finished up with it this past weekend. I was pleased with how it turned out, although there's several things I would do a little different next time. With it being a double beard, I used the brass and part of the hull of the shell that I killed him with. I thought y'all may like to see it.

looks good! question, How did you do the wings, I've always had trouble with them so I just stopped trying it. I really want to do this on a champion turkey next year

Thanks!
On the wings, I first cut as much meat off the bones as possible, leaving just bones and skin. Then I stretched them out to the size/shape I wanted them to be and stapled/nailed them to a board. A liberal coating of Borax (or just salt), and ~5-6 weeks later they're good. The whole final display is on a 8" or so wide piece of plywood, that is cut down to a taper where the neck of bird is. The wings are nailed through the skin, to the board under the cape portion.

Also, I am assuming you know that this is 3 separate pieces; wing, wing, cape/tail fan.

no I didn't know it was three pieces, how did you attach them? I have always thought these type mounts were all one piece

I reckon you could do it all in one piece, but I would think that would be very difficult.

They are all just attached to the board, not to each other, with nails. The board is about 8" wide, and runs the vertical length of the display. The wings are attached more to the center of the board, and is hidden by the cape. These are pictures of the 3 parts. On the picture of the wings, I ended up cutting the wing bone closest to the body off of the left one (in pic.) after I figured it wasn't needed, and was in the way.
