I have also had good luck with the Cabelas lace ups; sometimes they are on sale for cheap.

Got mine for $89. Only $109 regularly.

If I worked regularly in areas where I knew snakes to be abundant then I'd probably have some custom ones made or go with the Chippewa if they fit right. Would only take one time getting popped. I guess it's like a safety harness ... no one thinks they need it until they need it.

You can find the Chippewas for less than $300 if you internet shop. For anyone looking into a pair I would go try some on and see what size fit the best. Then start internet shopping. I want to say I paid $180 plus shipping for mine, albeit that was 5-6 years ago. I would bet you could find them for <$250 if you looked hard enough online.

I just got a new pair of Muck snake proof boots. They are completely waterproof. I think lacrosse has some rubber snake boots, too.

I have some lacrosse lace/zip up snake boots that I really like. Just not really waterproof.

Dang, thats a good price. I just saved that site into my favorites.

Same boot I had, but I was dumb and went with the 25111, steel toe.

They do but didn't see them in any camo color. Not so worried about that during bow season but turkey season is a different matter. And yeah, they are about $100 more than the other brands.

Dr. B

You don't need camo boots. Never had my brown chippewas cost me a bird. Now, there are about 1000 other things that did but the brown boots wasn't one of them. LOL laugh

The first pic of these boots were a little more two-toned than I like. grin I found another pair that was brown. They are certainly proud of them! I like that Tyler website though.

I have these Danners: http://www.danner.com/jackal-ii-snake-boot-17-realtree-apg.html

Just bought them a little while back and like them. The negative reviews I found on them were ankle stiffness. Mine were stiff at first too, but I adjusted the lacing until they were comfortable and have enjoyed the peace of mind ever since. Too much time in the woods alone to not wear them.

LaCrosse strikers are bad. I have owned a ton of snake boots and by far the best are Rocky's.

You can buy waterproof socks, the zippers are worth it not to have to lace them every time.

I got a pair of Lacrosse 4xAlpha snake boots a few years ago and have worn them quite a bit. I like they are rubber boots, so they are good on wet or dry ground. I think they were 150 bucks.

Went and looked at BPS last night. They have a boot trade-in program on selected boots. Bring an old pair of boots in and get a discount on a new pair. I didn't buy last night because they didn't have my size. Will keep looking.

Anyone who wears the Chippewa boots, are they cut narrow in the toe or is the Wide style pretty wide?

Nope definitely not! I have a pair also.

I don't have a wide foot so I'm not the best to answer probably. I got the regular width boot and it fits me perfect. It's definitely not too tight in the toe area. The ankle area is a little tight at first, but I like having some support there.
