Stkshtr's pastor isn't the only one using the stolen information defense, despite the fact the list is comprised of the billing info tied to the credit cards used. I guess these guys figure that since people have been believing their BS for years that they will believe their BS now. They are right! SMDH

Knew a couple on their. One is a friend and the other is my uncles next door neighbor.

I know one of the very few women on the list. I'll say nothing about her except that this poor girl has had a tough time in life, and the Bible commands us to be merciful in our thoughts and dealings. I have no idea if the website actually provided her with any results or service. The whole thing seems like a scam to me.

Just to question. But, why does it having the billing information prove it is the person? Someone can possess the address just as easily as they can the card number.

I am not saying that many of them are victims, but some are. I know one that has a police report with the charges listed from over a year ago.

It's my understanding that the way the site worked is that the charges were accumulated over time. Just setting up an account only cost like $20, a one time billing. But there were fees to keep your membership and to use certain features of the website. So the $ amount shown on the list should have taken months or years to reach the amounts some spent. It's just seems to me that most folks would notice such charges on their monthly statements if someone was using their credit cards.

Those are the folks I feel sorry for because people won't believe them but believe some of these other bastards who are lying.

I had my credit card used by someone 20 or so years ago when the 900 numbers came out but I did see the charges after a month and had them refunded so it could happen but not likely to keep on for a long time.

I don't know how they charged. But, the person I am talking about had a small charge compared to most of the ones on the list.

Wonder if the hackers are gonna release who hooked up with whom?

Just to clear things up, he isn't "my" pastor. He is a friend of mine that is a pastor. My understanding is the guy used his own card but put in the pastor's name and mailing address.

Being in the processing business I can tell you that isn't likely. Not impossible but unlikely. The address verification system will decline transactions that have a different name , address or zip code for the user and owner. The only exception is when the AVS is turned off or there is am option to enter a different billing address. Even then, it won't usually approve with a different name than what's on the card.

McAfee is a bit of a nutcase but he does know what he is doing. Some of that seems like a stretch though. He says only a woman would call them scumbags but I have heard men use that term plenty of times. It might all add up when you put it all together though because a lot of the computer stuff is way over my head.

Don't several places of business just use the card's billing zip code now instead of the full address? I know several gas stations and over the phone transactions only ask for zip code.

On ecommerce (website) transactions it at least is matching the name and zip. At a gas station it might only ask for zip.
