Most of y'all have referenced bears but are only talking about black bears. There just happens to be 4 species or bears in North America. My least favorite to hunt them is over bait. That being said, it is still very exciting. I could compare that to sitting in a shooting house over a food plot waiting on a whitetail but that would hurt some folks feelings.
And for the record, bears and cougars are very high in concentration for the specie in most places that they are hunted. In fact, cougars are a problem in some areas.

I'd read an article that mentioned California went from making money from license sales for cougars to loosing a million a year on professional hunters keeping the cats in check. This was around the time California banned cougar hunting.
