Without getting into the debate about free range deer herds and antlers, does anyone know of any reports or studies on the results there? It has been going on for decades and it seems the deer study groups at the major universities and the deer magazines would have reported on this, but I don't recall ever reading anything about results there.

Genetics cannot be influenced to any significant degree in a free ranging herd. Mickey Hellickson tried it on the King Ranch and used two almost identical areas (so as to have a control subject) and tried for I think almost ten years with no measurable result.

"Genetics" and "culls" ar the number one excuse used by people without trigger finger control or a lack of willingness to do the work necessary for true habitat improvement. Just my own observations. YMMV.
