I agree.
Just so I understand the hobo dinner...you basically just put uncooked hamburger patties in a foil packet with taters, carrots, onion, etc and bake it with a little seasoning? How long and at what temp? I got a hankering to try this.
We heat the oven to about 400 and set a timer for about 60 minutes. At that point pull it out and check to see if the veggies are tender. If not, put it back in for about 30 minutes and then check again. Usually, that's about all it takes. Be careful opening that dang foil though, the steam will get ya.

If you aren't around the oven just put it on the intake of the V8 and drive around about 45 minutes it will be done!

I've said it before...I love fish sticks! I still buy them for myself. I've learned that some brands are better than others!

The only Hobo Dinners I ever had were while camping and we'd rake out some coals from the fire and place them right in the coals X2, and use a cut of sirloin steak.

I read this when I came home for lunch and it got me to thinking alot about when Heidi and me first got married .I went back to work and asked her if she was in the mood for supper what we used to live on basically the first year we got married. She said sure why not.I am sitting here eating pintos, macncheese out of a box{the cheap kind] and cornbread and milk with salt, pepper and onion.I'm gonna tell ya what. It's some kinda good.

The only Hobo Dinners I ever had were while camping and we'd rake out some coals from the fire and place them right in the coals X2, and use a cut of sirloin steak. Campfire is the best oven for Hobo dinners. Sometimes when it's cold outside, I make Hobo soup. Same ingredients, just in a soup. With a piece or two of cornbread, it's mighty fine. When you put a piece of cut Sirloin or even ground Sirloin, in the foil, it ceases to be a Hobo dinner. I becomes a camper dinner. ground Chuck is the border line.

Told my mama about all the hobo dinner stuff on here. She said "Me and your dad had em the other day." I think she's gonna make em for me before long. It'll be just like when I was little.
Got the folks and my wife talking about po folk food, not eating out etc.
Reminded me we drank koolaid when we were little. I still love koolaid to this day.

Reading this I see a lot of folks who may have been "poor" in stuff but were incredibly rich in blessings of strong parents who forged on, did the best they could and apparently raised their young'uns pretty well.

How long and at what temp? I got a hankering to try this. If I were you I would put some finely chopped onions on the bottom underneath the beef. This keeps the beef from burning on the bottom. Season with some garlic, salt and pepper. I would put some oil in there, we usually put a pat of butter on top of everything before we seal each dinner up. Sere it with some nice crusty bread... We do the same thing for fish. Except we use squash, onion, tomatoes and seasonings... For the fish in the oven for about 20-30 mins.

Poke sallet. I still love it with fried taters and cornbread. Fresh beans and peas. Squirrels and rabbits. Fish we caught. Taters and vegetables we grew. We weren't poor, we just didn't have a lot of money. I was a single parent for about 12 years. I would cook a big pot of beans, chili or stew to last a few days during the week. I bet I've got the only kids in their 20s that like poke sallet and turnip greens. You would lose that bet,we put a couple fresh yard eggs in our poke sallet.

SOS was the dish for us. Tiny amount of ground beef...now That I think about it probably a 1/3 or so of a pound because we normally had it 3 times a week...make a little gravy in the pan with the meat and serve it Over two pieces of toast. Man....I still love that stuff...probably more for the memories than anything Loved me some SOS! Dad made it for us for breakfast sometimes on the weekends.

My parents were on a very tight budget for much of my growing up years and we didn't eat too high on the hog most of the time, but I've never eaten the lungs of any animal and don't plan on starting now. I'd throw up.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Mayo and crackers, lettuce and mayo and ketchup.
